The only good thing (dare i say that) about the damage is that it appears it only took out 'cosmetic' steel, for instance the guard and the bonnet and the front panel. If it were any lower the damage might not look as bad but then you would have issues with serious chassis damage. The majority of the metal there can be cut out and welded back with new sections. I really hope it wont be a write off.
I did 18 months of an apprenticeship at a panel shop and I can say that it actually looks worse than it is.
