Tick paint and rust off the list.

Just finished this GTV6 off this week after a good deal of time off the road. We changed the colour from light silver to this dark grey, Gunmetal shade. I reckon its fairly close to James's colour in the 82 film. Some do not. Whatever I like the colour alot. This is good as its going to look now. From now on it will deteriorate. Slowly hopefully.

I like the color too, and she looks great! The first pic shows a little of the engine bay, which also looks good. So, don't be afraid to post more pics, covering the engine bay, and the interior as well...

Best regards,

I was going to make the same comment as Bob! Its a nice looking '6', and I am quite envious of you Kiwi guys because you have very nice and innofensive number plates that dont detract from the car. It can be annoying when you have a nicely finished car, and you're forced to put some garish, multi-coloured number plates on it.

Engine Bay and interior. Would love to leather it out inside but I will get the best out of the fabric first. Engine has been fully recoed with a mild cam grind and open non cat exhaust. I built a Megasquirt for it and plan to fit it up over winter.

ahh, thanks for directing me here, looks superb... love it...

valve covers came out pretty good too - paint?
wot yr is this car? the valve covers look like earlier type 81-3, yet the door stripping/interior suggests a later yr... maybe an 83? or was this once a two-tone car? meaning 84?

interested in a few things for myself...
1) cam grind.... not at all informed about this, where did u get it done? does it involve welds? if simply a grind what does it do over the stock setup? got any numbers? cost?
2) have u investigated the cost of doing a leather interior in this part of the world? $$ would interest me... so far the re-originals option seems to be favoured, but dunno if we can't do it cheaper...

cheers,

joe

nb: didn't mean to be critical mate re:007 - it looks great...

Nice car, very similar to my colour. But please keep it away from the salt. I can hear it dissolving from here. You need to consider a cover on the inside of the bonnet (hood) before you lose your lunch-box lid. It will take the pressure build up for a while, but the small bolts will eventually break free. A small cover with some sort of seal should keep the pressure away from it.

Sorry guys but we are super coastal. And seen its my everyday runner again its going to exposed to the sea air. I am confident that it can resist the temptation to corode as much as before. Its well sealed inside all the panels with underseal and Rust Roy.

Yeah the plates are good here. You can spec want you want. Red or black lettering also with other small picture options, extra lettering printed on, flags and stuff like that. I like the plain black look.

Joey, the tappet cover are just paint with heat resistant VHT paint. I have a few spare engines and transaxles so I used the older style cover which has the nicer logo. The car was first registared here in 1987 but probably is an 86 build. Havent check into it. It was a 2 tone light silver top and dark grey lower body under the mould. The cam grind is that, a grind. No build up. The place that did the grind has done a few sets for other people over the years. Its just OK. Pulls well from low revs but the top end is not as good. Thats good by me any way. A V6 should have torque. It was cheap. Would like to try some wild cams in her. As for leather, those kits seem expensive. I reckon a local upolsterer could stitch up some hides to do the seats front and rear and inside panels for cheaper than the kit. The cost of hides is getting cheaper all the time. Shop round. A lot of places photograph thier work or ask to see some first hand to guage the workmanship. As for the plate design, I can not take credit for that. I saw it a years back on an Aussie 6. Its the only Bond car I'm likley to able to afford.

Grey are you talking about the sound material under the hood? It does have it . Hard to see in crapy picture.

Yes, sorry about that, I missed it. If you have ticked paint and rust off the list, there can't be that much left on the list to do. Want to swop lists???
