That's one of the styling exercises when Alfa was getting ready to produce the 105 Sedan. The roof & windows are Giulia, the rear panel is similar to the Fiat sedans of the time & the front is just bizarre. There were quite a few mock-ups of noses & more than one was built as a running car.

Fortunately common sense prevailed & we got the Giulia Ti & Super we know & love.

I have some pre-prod' photos that show other developments which seem to indicate that Satta settled on the nose long before they settled on the tail. Looking at prototype shots of the car through unbiased eyes, the Giulia Saloon looks quite contemporary for its time - but the finished product was way ahead of its time! Even if the public thought it looked a bit strange at launch...

The caption under the photo says:
TESTS FOR A MILLION MILES - After laboratory tesis(sp) - road tests. The vehicles travel in secrecy and disguise to avoid inquisitive stares and the unwelcomed attention of hidden cameras. The car is deliberately driven over thousands of miles of the most rugged terrain to be found in Europe. Here a prototype of the Giulia is on a country road in Jugoslavia.

Looking closely at the nose, it does look like it is some sheet metal masking a more correct nose judging by how far back into the recesses the lights are.
