We had a very successful show and shine day on Sunday. We tried a new idea by having the historic registration officers and treasurer there so that members with historic vehicles could pay their membership fees, have their car inspected and log books signed so they could keep it on the cheaper historic registration. It worked well. There were some great cars on display including for the first time a beautiful 1962 Giulietta Spider which has been a very long time restoration project.

Nice cross section of cars - very nice :).

For those that don't know Australia, Adelaide a city of 1.2 million people, the capital of South Australia and around 500 miles / 700 Kms west of Melbourne. So its quite some distance from any other major centre but a lovely city and for 10 years was the very popular home of the Australian F1 GP.

As such it was the venue for the very last race by an Alfa Romeo F1 car, in 1985. As one of the "tree people" for that race, on the chicane at turn one, we got to see and hear them in all their glory. They were not competitive but man they sounded good! And after the race we could go onto the track and into the pits which was great (the teams sold off their gear via impromptu auctions at the back of the garage :)) but just as memorable is the hospitality and enthusiasm of the local Alfa club. They always made interstate and international Alfisti welcome.

Thanks for that lovely revue of our city Alister and the kind compliments about our club. They are indeed a great bunch of people. It is the best club of any kind that I have been involved in. The owner of the Giulietta Spider is one of the original founding members from well over 30 years ago.
