Where did you find her?

Recycler, eBay or Auto Trader?

I know a few folks here on the board are in the hunt as well.

Congratulations on the buy! She looks like a winner.

I found her in the Recycler. I was actaully
looking for a restored car, and willing to
pay up to about $9K. But everything I looked
at had something wrong, like cheap paint,
crappy interior, rigged Spica. So I decided
to buy this one, and do the resotration the
way I wanted. I'll probably spend much more
than I think.

I am looking for a good paint shop in the LA
area. Any advice? I would like to strip the
car to bare metal, and have a really nice paint
job. I was thinking if I remove all the crome,
engine, interior, etc, and deliver her that way,
I should save some money. I was thinking of
spending about $4k for slight body work and paint.
Is this reasonable?

Any suggestions welcome.

Unhappy Tear in my eyes

She is definitely a winner...
Keven, when did you find it?
I've been looking at Recycler for the last few months every single day, and I still missed that one.

Alfa Chan,
I got her early last December. The add
was only a couple of days old. The 71's are
really hard to find. I like the interior
in them better than the 72-74's. I think
the pods are cool for the spedo tach, and
I prefer the separate fuel, temp gauge in
the center consol. In my opinion it has
a more classic look.

I also just bought a Nardi wood wheel to
replace the stock plastic one. Got it at
OKP in Germany(great place for parts) with
a hub, and alfa horn button for $267.
Should dress up the interior nicely.

Good luck in your search.

What are you going to do with the original steering wheel? Not that I need one, but I've wanted to hang a few on my garage wall. I really want a wood Spider/GTV wheel cuz I already miss the thick rim from my Spider.

Kai,
I need to hang onto the wheel until she's
out of the body shop. I dont want to send
her there with the Nardi. But seeing as I am
starting a major lanscaping job at the house, I
dont think the Alfa will be at the shop until
this fall. Thats assuming I have any cash left
after landscaping!!

If you would like, E-mail me around Sept, and
I might be ready to part with the wheel.
