Hi all. I am new to the ARBB just wanted to say hello and tell you a bit about my cars.

My name is Phillip,

I am based in Brisbane, Australia. I have three 105 Coupes.

My first car is a 1965 Giulia Sprint GT, in Silver. very original car but in need of serious restoration.

My second find was a 1970 Gt Junior with a 1750 engine. The body is great on this car and it has a lot of potential. Car is red but was originally Ochre

And finally my pride and joy, a 1970 1750 GTV in Olive green metallic. I just bought this car in Sydney and drove it home about three weeks ago. Its very original having been in the hands of the first owner for 31 years. The car runs well and is simply in need of a tidy up here and there.

here is a photo of the three arranged in the garage. Note the colour combo.

Oh and the Sprint and the junior are for sale if anyone is interested ( email me for more information)

Oh I amost forgot I am after some goodies for my 1750.

I need a manual for a mk2 1750 ( non Spica edition)
2 bertone badges ( late type)
cover plate for heater switches.

I have plenty of bits to trade, such as spare veglia dials and badges etc if anyone is interested. I will be slowly bringing my 1750 up to condition and will let everyone know how I am getting on.

Cheers,

Phil

Thanks Anthony, I will be doing more photos of the three very soon, especially some detail on the two for sale cars. I think my hobby is turning into an obsession. It all started back in the early 1970s when my uncle was a mechanic for the Queensland Alfa Romeo dealership. We always had a 105 series around our place when he stopped by to visit. What clinched it though was the fact that my parents stored a wrecked 1967 Giulia Sprint Gt Veloce for him in the yard, I don't remember too much about that car, but I do recall the smell of the interior, the rocker panels ( which I still have) and the green Quatrofoglio. The next big clincher for me occurred when I was six and my uncle took me for a drive in a Montreal. Imagine the first ALFA you ever have a ride in and its a brand new Montreal. Can't be too many people who can claim that. Anyhow you can see how I never had a chance from the start

regards,

phil

Eliseo, thanks very much. She has a good body, and looks slightly GTAish without the bumpers. The real star of the stable is the 1750, only two owners from new. What Alfas do you have ? What is the 105 situation like in Mexico ? I have family in Argentina and Brazil and would love to check out the Alfa scene in Latin America in general.

Phil, welcome to the board. Nice collection you got there. A silver Sprint GT - thats not an original colour, right?
Next, an olive green metallic 105 - I have only seen that colour on Giulia Supers? (I know Kai is going to post me a bunch of pics of olive green metallic 105s now:rolleyes: )

kai send me your email address and I will send you more shots. Its just that the BB wont take the size of the jpegs and my software is playing up. Actually a gtv in Olive green metalic is a pretty unusual colour scheme. I know of one other in Sydney and I have seen a picture of a GTJ in the same but that is it. I think that is why I was attracted to it, I never felt confortable having a red 1750.

My colour choice was ochre, then any blue ( ice, dutch, french, navy) and then green (British racing green, pino Verde, olive green mettalic). I guess the colour of this car clinched it for me as I also have a 61 MGA in the same colour, it was like an omen. The fact that the car was a two owner 1st owner since new and that the car was relatively rust free and very original helped aswell.

I have been looking for a 1750 for years ( well since I was 17) I am now 34. What happened was that I wanted to buy one when I was 17, in 1986 in brisbane you could still pick em up second hand from car lots. One dealer in the summer of 86 had three of em to choose from ( 2 red mk2s and a green (BRG) Mk1 and a dealer over the road from him had a 1600 Junior in red. My father was not impressed and thought that I would probably kill myself ( I certainly would not have been able to keep it running in a1 state) he was right so I went for more mundane Australian made hatch back perfect for university students, and then I bought the MGA.

Well the years went on and I forgot about 105s. I finished university, grew up moved to London and became a banker. When I moved to New York, cars let alone 105s were the last thing on my mind. I could drive in a friends BMW from Maryland to Brooklyn in under 4 hours (Jersey turnpike) and it would still take me 2 hours to find a park in Brooklyn on a sunday night.

That is until one day I saw an ochre 1750 sitting lonley in a carpark in Manhattan and a spark started up in me again. I moved back to London and suddenly realised that I probably could get away with owning a 1750. I started looking and looking and probably drove every 105 specialist in the UK nuts with my calls( apologies Richard, Ian and Simon). Not to mention the private sellers Finally I found a wonderfull 71 navy blue GTV that some fellow was selling via a dealer. I put an offer in and they came back close to my offer. Anyway to cut a long story short I got the jitters about the state of the financial markets ( oct 2002) and withdrew my bid. Just as well, I lost my job by December. No problem, I came home to Australia and was looking at 1750's before my jet lagg had worn off.

6 months later and two step front project cars under my belt I finally found my car. This ones a keeper.

Sorry to bore everyone with this but I wanted to get it off my chest. This was the journey I took to find my perfect 1750 gtv.

Oh I still want an ochre mk1(just like in the brochures) to go with the mk2 but I will need to clear some space and sell the step fronts first.

Jørgen (cut and paste is a superb device). Apologies its late over here and my spelling is getting sloppy as I get sleepy. I know how you feel, you should try having a surname like Mine in an English speaking country. Besides I have enough Skandi friends that I should be up on the spelling by now.

Regards,

Phil
