I like these seats and trim. Alfa 145/146? Also the backseat is in the same condition as the frontseats. Very nice work. Fine job.

Smile Alfasud Giardinetta 904A n°5005073 pictures

Hello All,

I'm new here and I hope I'm posting in the right place, just to post a link to pictures of my Alfasud Giardinetta, a French one that I bought 4 yrs ago from a (now closed) Alfa Garage in Montélimar, south of France.

The car was used for the Monte-Carlo Rallye as fast Assistance several times (Ballas was a great driver in the N group I remember in the late 70's with the 1.5 Ti), and I'm not responsable for the horrible "pseudo-Ti 80's look" of the car, who is originally one of the first 1200 produced. This one has 5 spd gearbox and a 1500 115 HP, don't tell French police please, totally illegal here. Plastic enlargement added, sunroof....all painted in red by the son of the garage owner...
I'm lucky, I have the original chrome bumpers, engine, gearbox too !

I bought this one as when I was 12, this model is the first car I convinced my dad to buy in my life... In 1977, he bought a great Alfasud Giardinetta 1350 L, for 34768 French francs I remember. My father made more than 340 000 kms with the white Giardinetta, alas destroyed by rust and exchanged for a Ford Fiesta wagon while I was doing my military service in Italy.
I'm also owner of MG's (nobody's perfect), so the link is there:

http://mgcf.free.fr/alfasud/

I'll have alot of things to restore on the car, behind the seats the wood is broken, plastic on the sides also deteriorated a lot.
This summer I tried to change without success the handbrake cable who goes to the 2 front discs, without success... My fingers are too big or what ? Can someone tell me what the procedure ?

Best regards,
Jérôme, from France, Romeo-Sudalfista :-)

(Parlo Italiano anche, e Francese claro....)

At last !!! First time I'm seeing another Giardinetta with the back strip

It has 40.000 kms and still has the original paint.

The 79 Giardinetta is undergoing complete restoration including brandnew
1.5 Ti engine and brandnew transmission. There was not too much rust to
fix and it will be repainted in its original "bruno cilento" color.
The interior will be changed from tan to black.
Hello Hans !
I'm so glad to see your incredibly beautiful Giardinetta, I remember the one from my father had also in the back the black stripes with "Alfasud" in a peculiar font just below the rear window. On all the Giardinetta's I saw in Portugal or Italy, none had that stripes and I wondered how many had it...
I was surprised when he went to the Alfa Garage in South of France to see that black stripes, even on the basic version, without "contagiri" (RPM's)....My father had ordered the absolute basic one, he was a teached and we had lost a lot during the war in Lebanon we were coming back from.

I'll restore my Giardinetta in the future to be like on a picture of my father Alfasud probably, with that sticker/stripes.
If you still have the stripes on, or have a digital picture, would you be so kind to send it to my private email adress ? I can give it in a private message later.

Thanks so much, Jérôme
(Note: I forgot to mention I searched for a Giardinetta for 8 years in -south- Europe, saw in 1998 a totally rusted model without mechanical parts anymore in Brussels with only the 2 rear windows to be taken potentially, another "new" one (35000 kms, one owner) is supposed to exist in Nice at an Alfa Garage, the owners wanted....7000 Euros 6 years ago....and did not wanted to send me pictures or say where the car was, I saw one in Firenze not really good at a hefty price in 2000 (for 6500 € of today), so this one was "cheap" by my standards...but won't tell how much).
Best regards.

Sud TiX

I had a Sud 1.5 TiX as my first Alfa in 1990. It was a slightly off-white colour and suffered from very bad rust. It was a lovely car to drive though. The full extent of the rust became evident after the car was involved in an accident in Scotland and the plastic trim was removed. (I then had a Ti Green Cloverleaf that I kept for nearly 12 years)

I would guess that a TiX would be quite rare now as they were of the age when Alfa were using recycled steel.

If you are thinking of buying, make sure that there is metal under the rear arch covers and check the inner front wings, door bottoms, rear hatch etc for rust. What colour is the one you are considering? I only thought they came in the Bianco capodimente (white) and a light metallic green. Is it the 1.5 or the 1.3?

A TiX should have a glass sunroof, and front foglights along with the TiX decals along the side.

These are pictures of the one I owned back in the early 90s.

This last picture was immediately following the accident:

This seems to be the same car I photographed. What is your connection to it?
