My 166 and 155Q4
Wish I could bring them Home But UNCLE SAM SAYS NO!
What kind of FREEDOM is that?
You telling me that a 1997 Kia Rio is safe for the USA and my 166 or 155 isn't?
Oh Well. Better luck Next Life I guess I will have to drive around my old Milano and 164 until my ex work buddies at Arese get the GO Ahead for Alfa USA!

Explanation
My 164S and Milano Verde are waiting for me in Colorado, where I used to live before moving to Europe to work for Fiat. My 166 and Q4 are here with me in Europe, the 166 here in Spain and the 155Q4 in Italy. I will be moving back at the end of December so I have to give up my toys because of Uncle Sam.
The 166 makes the 164 seem like an old Model T in comparison. Well, not that bad but I am not looking forward to giving her up, diesel engine and all.

Reply, what I do for Fiat
I was product development manager for the new Alfa Spider that was supposed to come out in 2005. I was based in Arese and it was a real learning experience. I am now working for Iveco, Fiat´s truck division here in Spain making the Daily Van and Cab. In January I will be moving back to the states to work for CNH (case new holland), Fiat´s agricultural equipment and tractor company. I am in a management program for future directors of the company. I don't know much more than the press about Alfa´s return but I am in constant communication with my buddies in Arese. Just sit tight...Alfas (new ones) will once again emit their fabulous roar in the USA.
Forza Alfa!

Sandman,
Was this to be an 'all new Spider' - or a facelift / evolution of the current Spider?
I'm sure we'd all love to hear anything (that you are not contractually prevented from saying)

All new Spider
I was working on the ALL NEW SPIDER. The current spider is based on the famous TIPO platform that gave birth to a myriad of Fiat Group products. The actual Spider that is sold today in the world except USA is actually U.S. legal and was designed to go to the U.S. from the getgo. It even has the Alfa Milano 75 gas tank (U.S. legal) installed which has hurt its European sales because it robs precious trunk space!

Sandro, is that you?!
Glad to have you on the Alfa BB! I know that many of us US-vased Alfisti eagerly await your return and that of Alfa.
I know it's you because of where you worked and are working...oh, and your name "Sandman" was the final giveaway!
Cheers,
