I was offered a 76 Alfetta coupe 10 days ago. It's a very pretty car but it had been sitting for several years. I guess I'm not up for the challenge of restoring anymore. I later saw it advertised on Craigslist/Los Angeles. The black was advertised with the red one as a package for under $1000.

Bump: From my collection of digital pics of Alfas, a 1975 Alfetta GTV with 16" wheels - just to keep this thread alive!

Amazing Alfetta. Much better than those "newer" plastic ones.

It's a good thread to revive occasionally. This is my first tour through it, and I'm interested. It makes me want to find an Alfetta and fix it up. Nice cars. Or a Sport Sedan. But there are too many things queued up ahead of that for a while.

You want in to the club?

In the US, Sport Sedans and and Series 2 Spiders seem to be the last "undervalued" Alfas. However in the case of the Sport Sedans it is somewhat academic since there are so few of them left in any kind of reasonable shape. (That's why I own two of each )

Regards to all my Alfetta Bros,

This thread is just painful! Everytime I see a nice Alfetta GT like that red one I want to go find one, eventhough I have a gtv6! I've finally realised that it's the shape of that awesome body withthout the gtv6 plastic and bumpers and that nice little chin spoiler that makes these cars so sweet looking ... makes me want to rip all that stuff off my car except that it is in such good shape.

Hi Greg,

Wait'll you see my "new" spider! 53,000 two-owner miles!!! Putting in a new head gasket and re-plugging the crank are all it needs to be a very nice driver.

Re: your GTV. You should stop fooling around and finish that car! Find a set of euro Alfetta bumpers, fix that door, get the interior done, and it would be one of the most beautiful GTVs of any stripe anywhere. Getting rid of those bumpers would probably really help the handling too. I mean, absolutely it is the ugly-a*s bumpers that are the downfall of the GTV6's styling. Dump 'em!

Whichever of my two '74 Spiders I end up keeping, I will def. be re-doing the bumpers to the correct set up. Like they were on the 71s and 72s and all the Euro series 2s. After 1972, the US Alfas were pretty consistently crapped out with bad bumpers, and it is our duty as preservers of the true Alfa Spirit to restore them as God, Pininfarina, Bertone, and Gugiaro intended!!!!

Another one...this '77 sedan pickup truck conversion was for sale here in the Bay area many years ago. I'm dying to know if anyone has ever seen it since? I was really tempted to buy it - but chickened out at the thought of the car coming apart at the middle with one of my bikes in the bed!

Excellent! Thanks for posting. Are you familiar with that car - can you shed any more light on it? Even though I never cared much for the second series larger body style sedans - that particular car has always been the one example of how I think they all should have looked from the factory. It's really a beautiful car.

P.S. I love the licence plate on it too!

Yeah i know the guy that owns it, he built that motor quite a few years ago, he runs a shop in Sydney.

Last time i spoke to him he was still building a twin turbo 3L. He sold that chrome drenched 2.5 to a mate named Julian that owns a GTV6, he used to post on gtv6.com a fair bit.

From memory it ran Haltech injection, the cams that Colin Bond had in his Bathurst GTV6 racecar and the usual high comp, head porting etc.. good for 250 hp but he wanted 6 throttle bodies for another 10 or so hp.

Thanks for the info...
I've had that picture for several years now - so I'm glad to hear the car is still around. Never knew it was so "bling" under the hood though...

Just dug up an ancient picture of my '77 sedan (and in the background you can see my '79 coupe) - this was the car that started my addiction
