I have been meaning to post some photos of my 76 Gt for a long time but finally got around to doing it. It has been an Arizona car from new, with the exception of the 4 years it spent with me in Kansas City. I got the car in Tucson in 1995 as a total sunbaked abandoned disaster, but it was structurally truly a solid car and I found every receipt from new in the glovebox. I did the body/paint/interior and the mechanical work to get it on the road in 1996, and then it got a complete engine and transaxle rebuild in 2001. The only welding the car ever needed was a small spot behind the battery box in the trunk. All the underhood paint and metal is original, and I probably exhausted the NOS supply of miscellaneous Alfetta parts getting it all back together.

The cosmetics have held up pretty good over the last 11 years, especially considering this has been our club event car and general driver. It has been on the track, on rallies, on tours, and even won the transaxle coupes class at the 2002 AROC National Concours even though it was never intended to be a show car. It has all of its emissions equipment in place (required in AZ) and was restored to stock specifications except for euro headers (the emissions air rail was modified to work on these), a Shankle Sure-Shift (a great item), GTV-6 brakes, Shankle springs, and Koni yellows.

Thanks. I just got back from a little Italian car show with Alfas, Fiats, and Lancias as part of an Italian celebration at one of these big new masterplanned communities, and got a comment I bet nobody else has. This lady said that my fetta reminded her of a...

Arno!
No Way! I got the same comment on my gtv6 from some lady about 8 years ago - I just said, "oh" but it had to be the most degrading comment I ever received but then the lady didn't know what an Alfa Romero-Alpha Romeo ... Alfa Romeo even was either!

Hey thanks Randy! I'm the guy who you caught drooling on your black sport sedan a few weeks ago, remember? You pulled up in the Audi and we spoke for a bit...

Oh Yeah! Now I remember where I had heard your handle before. BTW, my 3,000 mi. Alfetta slipped between my fingers. However, that was not the one that your friend in WA was looking at. There was another in PA with ~ 20 k mi. That one was the one that the guy was asking $17k for. Anyway, I am bearing down on getting my current cars up to speed instead of chasing new "projects". (Every Alfa is a project in one way or the other.) I have lined up a source for TS parts, and that order will be in the pipeline soon, along with a complete new suspension for the spider.

Hey, stop by anytime and show off your babies. 829 Delaware.

Regards,

Another Beauty!! I am so jealous of you "mature" Alfetta owners. I have quite a way to go before my "Sportys" will stack up against yours.

Oh well, that's more motivation to stay focused.
