Cool 1969 Alfa Romeo Spider

As some of you requested more pics of this spider, I'm starting this thread. This is not MY spider but such a beauty that she needed to be shared.

lastly...

If anyone needs to see something in particular, just let me know. Unfortunately, I never got any shots of her on the ground before the owner picked up this beauty.

More and larger engine shots can be seen in the "engine pics" thread.

Hope you enjoy the photos.

Nice spider!

1969ALFA,
that sure is a beauty you have there. Which Recaro's are those? I would love a set of those in my '84 Spider. I really like the battery relocation too. Is that a stock airbox/intake? Why the hose to the cam cover and radiator? Sorry if theses seem like stupid questions but I am curious. Thanks.

Hey Green Dragon, nice work. Are you a restorer, mechanic? If so, where are you located? If not, what is the name of the shop that did the work? Where are they located? Thanks.

1969alfa man ... NICE car , one of the best actually , need leather seats for such a car though, the regular fabric looks cheap in a car that screams "EXPENSIVE"

Thumbs up Credit where credit is due...

Alfaholico and Hooligan and anybody else who bothers to read this,

I did NOT do this work. I saw this car come to life over the last several months whenever I had my car in the shop or time to just stop by and talk cars with:

Don and Andrew at Italian Performance
They are located in Belmont/San Carlos, California. If you need contact info, PM me and I'll send it to you. Don has asked that I don't advertise the shop per se as they have more work than they need and he regularly has to turn people away.

The story behind the car...

If you are interested, there is a bit of a story behind this car.

The fellow who was the original owner of the car, got married. For whatever reason, during the early course of his marriage, it became necessary to sell the car. He sold it, which made the wife happy and the husband sad. Many years later, financial situation being different, the wife locates the car and employs Italian Performance to renovate the car for her husband as a gift. During the course of the tear down, the husband learns of it and steps in to request a full restoration. It was not meant to be a concourse winner as the owner wanted a few excentricities of the car to remain as they are; such as the single brake servo (a previous mechanic, who shall remain nameless, had removed and discarded the other servo).

In 7 months, Italian Performance, had the car stripped, repainted, rebuilt, and reassembled to the owners specifications. The car was meant to be a driver not a show piece but Italian Performance took it upon themselves to go above and beyond for this longtime customer. I stopped by on any number of evenings to find Andrew working late and "off the clock" because he was putting a lot of personal pride into the job.

It is because of this 1969 spider that I chose to have them work on my spider as I wanted this level of detail extended to mine.

I just thought that the story was fairly interesting so I would share it.

Hey Green Dragon
The hose from the cam cover to the airbox is normal. The pic is an optical illusion and makes it look like it is one hose that conncts the three but it is not. The airbox is stock except I drilled the "center tube" of the airbox. I do not know the model of the Recaro's but they are great. I did not install them but I believe there was some modification done to make them fit. Here is another pic of the engine to see the hoses from the cam cover.

It's a photoshop . We used this as our "New year's" card to send to our friends and family . This is the original picture :

You can find this 1750 Spider Veloce in Gent - Belgium . My husband bought her allready in 1979 en kept her save and warm all these years . Two years ago , she had a complete restauration and since then I tread her as if she was my own child . The virus , you know

BTW Did you know that " Lief " means sweet in Dutch ?
