My morning commute..

I was going to add this to the "Alfas in snow" thread, but I thought I'd start my own thread..

So, I left at about 9:00. I took this for the Alfas in snow thread. Note that the snow isn't sticking to the street:

Then about ten minutes later, I found myself driving in this:

I was slipping all over the road. I considered leaving it at the local Wal*Mart and calling for a ride, but I kept going. Yes, I've got snow tires (Falken Ziex 512) and yes, I know how to drive on snow, I wasn't doing anything stupid, etc. I was still sliding all over.

I got out at a light to clear off my rear window and took this picture:

I finally got to school. Luckily I didn't get in an accident. The news said the Utah Highway Patrol reported 80 (yes, eighty) accidents between 9 and 11 in Salt Lake County this morning.

Now my car is sitting out on the street, because there's no way in hell it'll make it up my rather steep driveway:

Dont you worry about driving it with the salt and crap on the roads? Or do you clean the underside regularly?

We got at least ten inches up here today. Fortunately, a lot of it has melted, and I wasn't driving. Made for good snowboarding snow though.

It`s a lot of fun to drive a rear wheel car in the snow. My Alfetta has winter tyres too and it gives a lot more grip than summer tyres. It`s rather dangerous to drive on summer tyres during the winter.
