More #5
Bill- I did get it from Fernie -after much time and effort. Joe Scheibenpflug bought the car from Ammen 11/73 and then only raced it 5 times before passing it on to George Turini in/on 8/76. Eric- no offense taken, I think it's the same car- Rutherford and Ammen also had a GTA(s)? However -I don't think they were ever run in CS-even with the 1300? The door handles would tell too, it's a bit fuzzy in the photo. It's going back to 1600 BS which is they way it ran the majority of it's life. For GT 3 they hacked off the lower nose and had a spoiler in glass which dzus fastened on. The tailights were hacked out for the bigger ones as it must have run a 2 L in the end. The roof is perfect and the car never had any soundproofing inside or under- when it's done I'll be sure and share some pics.

Thanks for sharing those pictures with us. It's nice to see what these cars looked like out there before I was ever around.

I was at college in Southampton from '78-'82. I'm embarrassed to admit how badly I needed a clue: I was completely unaware of the Bridgehampton race during my college years. I wish I knew then . . .

There is a group that is trying to bring car racing back to Bridgehampton/ the surrounding areas. I know for a fact that they were very active in 2004, don't know since then.

Never gunna happen. The Westhamption Drag Strip is now Senior housing, the other Drag Strip (National Speedway ?) was long gone a long time ago, Islip Speedway gone in the 80's as is Freeport Raceway. Accept the fact that Long Island is not a racer friendly area. It's just a matter of time until Riverhead Raceway bites the dust. No public property even to ride a ATV here. But their hand is out for your tax money.

Ended it's career as a GT 3 car- last raced 1983. All owners known and really not that rusty but needs alot of bodywork to put back to late 60s BS configuration. Ran at Bridgehampton many times according to the logbooks. Will pay for any period photos people may have of this car- next year we want to run some races back east with it.

Would love to see some finished photos!

Red #5 C sedan
Ammen and Rutherford had a 1300 GTA-Jr before the steel bodied car. I think that one went to Bruce Perry, then to NZ. I don't think that the green #3 is Romans Midgley car. I'm not sure if Midgley would have gotten this far East. I'll look around for similar photos.

I wonder if that 1300 GTA-Jr is the one I saw at a NZ track called Manfield around 1993. It was in what I would call rough condition, but apparently had never been on a public road and always was a race car. It had extreme lightening like even the dashboard was cut in half and no chrome trim anywhere.
I would have had to do a simpathetic restoration myself before I raced it, but the owner liked it like it was ... heck I would not even have allowed it on the track if I was the scrutineer.

Hi Pete
It was Les Singh in New Zealand that Bruce Perry sold his GTAj, 775325, to but I would have said it was a little later than 1993 as I had bought some parts from Perry around that time(Sept 1993) and it seemed to me that the GTAj was just being shipped at that time. Further I sold a GTAj engine block to Singh in 1996 that he had trued up by Jack Beck on its way to NZ.
Perry did buy this GTAj, 775325 from Ammen according to correspondence I have from Bruce.
Perry vintage raced that GTAj occasionally up to the time he sold it. Usually at Watkins Glen.
Attached is a picture of Bruce Perry on GTAj 775325 at the Watkins Glen SVRA in 1992 and a second pic taken at same time showing the half dash.
