Congrats on a great Series 2 GT. I knew the prevoius owner and the owner previous to him.
I also have a picture of the car right after it was restored, probably talking about 15 years ago now! The '71 is a great combo of small taillights, nice dash and best of all, the hanging pedals.
Enjoy it!
The car officially went up on stands today and wont' be driven until a few things are done to it. Took the carbs off and will be sending them out to be completely rebuilt. I have on order from Classic new carb mounts, all the gaskets, clutch slave cylinder, clutch MC, oil filter etc. Also should be having GTA style velocity stacks and a solid alu. backing plate coming as well.
I suspect the carbs will take the longest to get to me which is perfect as it will give me time to properly install the carb mounts. installing carb mounts seems to be getting more complicated as I read about them.
I also have some little bits and pieces coming from brad_fischer (thanks again), mainly chrome and interior stuff my car needs. That should arrive first so I'll be doing those things first.
I will be sending out my set of 1750 stock wheels to be sandblasted and clear-power coated and ridding of my American Racing wheels, albeit I have somewhat grown some liking to them.
I'd like to lower the car but not sure what route to take yet.
In the meantime I have taken the overriders off and did some interior panel refinishing.
Rear interior panel refinish:
Rear panel ashtray before and after
All done
Rear overriders removed with stud sticking out. Not sure if this is suppose to be like this, I thought it's suppose to be a bolt, but my car has these studs welded in.
Decided to go out for a quick night photo shoot. Was just playing with some new things on the camera and trying night shooting with my 1.7 50mm. I think a found the sweet spot setting for the lens so was happy. Looking back on the car with over riders, I'm very pleased with the overriders gone as it is much cleaner. Now, I must lower the car somehow!
Thanks to brad for pointing out my missing top grille piece. I will be getting that in soon!
Anyway my wheels here I hope to have sent out this week to get refinished.
And tonight the carbs came off. For a first time taking carbs off any car, I'd say the process went pretty smooth. Blind nuts were not that hard to access. Except that I flipped the carbs upside down to get the bolts to the airbox and fuel spilled everywhere. That was worth a cuss, I then promptly drained the fuel!
