Very interesting!!
My mom and I had similar experience more than 10 years ago. Back then she had GTA1300Jr (AR775877) and one of her friend brought his autodelta GTAJr (w/ narrow head and spica slide valve injection) in to put regular 2L in so that he doesn't have to worry about destroying the rare engine during track events. I was looking at every detail of the car for at least couple of hours and wow! AR775878!! I know that GTAJrs are far more common than RHD Sprint GTAs, but still I felt very lucky and was excited for long time...
BTW, do you remember the PM I sent you couple of months ago? We are still looking for someone who can finish my mom's 750D.

This car was on Ebay maybe 6-8 months ago. I spoke to the owner, did he sell it on Ebay or did he wind up keeping it.

Wonder what Elvira says the build dates are? Would be interesting to send those dates in and see if Alfa says they were built on the same date or not.

What a tough decision for the owner track car or street prep? What do you think will provide the best long term value?

I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see the pictures of the serial numbers. That is beyond belief, half way around the world here are two factory GTA's nose to tail off the assembly line.
Hey! Get them ready for the French Italian car show and show them side by side. Then go racing with the two of them side by side. There is a picture for the Alfa Owner mag!

I would very much like to see the "restoration" of this foundling to be in the form of a circa 1970 TransAm race car. There is little need for another "street" GTA - RHD example, but there is a crying need to reproduce an authentic recreation of a noble race car... the old #33 from the TransAm days. The juxtaposition of serial numbers is an omen! I'll talk to the owner and see what can be done...

Cool. When you do, make sure you mention that you want to buy it!

Anthony,
This is what I have found so far:
"The rear supension is not original it is from a LS GTV the original was similiar to the 1600GTV without the Alumiuim trunion. The Engine/trans have the correct Mag. pcs. they are not aftermarket. I was using a Euro air intake. All the trim pcs. are included no bumpers the door handles and some of the other trim is new from original stock not after market. "
I may have at work some info on the UK racing history. I recall something about an officer that raced it in local events.

That's a car to kill for!
By the way, is the owner a friend of yours?

Great I leave the valley and now theres GTA's popping up all over the place there? who what Balboa too? hah..
I was admiring that one GTA at your dad's shop, its really awsome without paint because you can really admire the rivoting, it has to be a painstaking process, but it just looks great. theres rivots even around the inside of the gas cap!! hah

I agree that the car should be restored as a 1970 or earlier race car....as close as is possible...

Are both steering wheels on those cars original? Because they seem to be different. The red GTA has four holes on the spokes and the white one has three.
