1971 front and rear
Here are shots of my '71 US Spider. I'm not sure how helpful they'll be, and the car is put away in the garage right now, which is tight enough that I won't be able to get a more bumper-specific shot until spring.

chpopel,
Check your private messages for my reply concerning bumper shock absorbers. Meanwhile, here's my '76 with '71/'72 bumpers (these are the ones without the little square rubber protrusions). Also, The '71 Spider pictures by Farace don't show the funny rubber covered bar that was originally fitted in front of the grille (I removed this in 1971 as soon as I got my new Spider home from the dealer).

I love Key's, George's, and Bob's spiders. I am thinking real hard about this and I think Key's is my favorite even over my own. Such a beautiful color and those panasports. It just looks about perfect. Here is my 78 for your reference that has been converted with used bumpers from a 71-72 on the fronts, used rear from a 73-74, alfa of-corse's brackets, two tone blinker covers like Key's from ebay seller, and a new grill from Joe at Centerline. This is by far the most dramatic improvement anyone can do to a rubber bumper series 2.

Please forgive me I, I could not resist!!!
"Tis' better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission".
Sorry, this is a '69 so I most humbly beg for your forgiveness for posting to your request for '71-74. Your revenge can be to point out that the drivers side front fender rubs the body. I am so ashamed and mad of this flaw I almost did not post it. It will be fixed soon.
I will also admit, I like the interior of the '71+'s and I Love the blue '74. GREAT color.

I love the blue as well. If I ever repaint my car, I might consider a dark color, because I love the way the brightwork shows up against it. My car was originally green, and while I don't particularly care for BRG, I'm sure there's a green with more pizzazz that I might consider.
As for the comment on my burgundy seats, unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on the reason) they'll be changing to black soon. The rest of the interior is black, and those seats came out of the PO's '69 Spider and the upholstery is falling apart. I've got a set of '70s seats that I'm slowly working on. I agree the burgundy against silver is nice. Burgundy against green (if that ever happens) would probably be yucky.

Wow! This is a great collection of Spider pictures in this thread. I'm getting Spider envy! Or maybe just anxious to get my Spider back from the body shop.

Captcraig- are those the factory bumpers cut and pushed back to show of the grill? If so please give me the details on this.

infanterene: Yes they are factory bumpers. I bought the car this way, haven't been able to track down the original owner from Buffalo NY. if any one recognizes the car let me know. it looks like he cut out the bumpers, filled the ends with epoxy. they aren't very strong only attached to the shock or impact part with a large set screw. I think he added the alfa emblem and stainless fins to the original grille as well. Not a 100% sure of the original look without looking at some pictures.Sure does look better. If you need more pictures i can take some Craig.
