Alfa Track Day in Portugal

I participated on a Track Day this past Saturday in the city of Braga, Portugal.

It was great! A lot of rain! A lot of sideways action!

There are two galleries with around 200 photos.

yes. Most of the cars were stock. The only thing mandatory was the helmet.
I want to install a roll bar on mine, but I'm still gathering funds...

Here in Portugal the Track Day trend is still on it's infancy. Very few people have a dedicated track day car...

Here in SA and more specifically in the greater Johannesburg area we have 4 racing circuits. Two of which hold regular track days (with one circuit holding a seperate car and bike track day about once a month). All you need is a road legal/registered car, helmet, long sleeve shirt, long pants, closed shoes and to pay the equivalent of US$25 and sign an indemnity. They may split the groups between open top cars, sports cars and slower cars. If anyone is seen to be driving like an idiot, or driving too close to other cars the marshalls pull you off. No need for a dedicated track day car if you happy to throw your daily driver around once in a while...

What do you mean by "grief"?

My car is the Junior on the first picture.
Nobody has adressed me about the lack of a rollbar. I want to install it because I feel safer and the increase in torsional rigidity.

If you look at the pictures on the links, you'll notice that most of the cars are stock. The cars with rollbars on are competition cars from the national championship...

I think this is key. In places where track days have been organized for decades (like the UK, US, AUS, etc.) more regulations have been added over time. Occasionally, there is a track event that is led by a pace car. In those events, no extra safety equipment is needed; only a helmet is required of the car's occupants.
