Giulia at Timberline
On an AROO tour a few years ago, some of us ventured up to Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood, the exterior of which was Jack Nicholson's hotel in "The Shining."
The ride back down the hill got a little spooky, too.

And as usually happens in the snow with this car the ABS gives up. Is this a standard feature on a 156 as I have heard it happening to another one as well?

Standard equipment on the 164 as well/ but it was much better with the fr...g ABS

The Giulia wheels
They're Panasports...but unfortunately that's not my Spider. Mine's a '72; I think there are pictures of it in the snow around here (on a CD, in a stack of CDs) somewhere.

I've got Yoko EVS 100's on my Spider. In the Tire Rack performance comparison chart there is a column for snow traction. It says "N/A." Hence, no snow photo.

I've got the same tires on my GTV. I put him to bed November 1. Other than the occasional visit to start the engine and let it run for a while, he stays there until May!

Giuliettas in the snow
http://www.dvpratt.com/RoadTrips/Apr04/index.htm
Dave Pratt posted a travelogue of his trip from Portland to Boston, partly through the snow, in the other, very similar Giulia at Timberline in my earlier picture posting.
He and his brother had quite a trip, well worth reading.

But.... can you freely drive a "lookalike" or original police car on the swiss roads?
(or are you a "poliziotto cantonale ticinese" ? )
ciao

Eh Eh; no I'm not a "poliziotto cantonale ticinese"; the car is only for the collection (I cannot obviously use it in the road).
Note: this Alfa 75 is not "Polizia cantonale" but "Polizia comunale".
The car was in the snow, waiting to be parked in the garage. Meanwile the snow (unfotunately for Alfa the winter - and the salt as well- is coming) began to fall.
Ciao

I found out recently that the ABS on all cars (from fords to mercedes) will just stop functioning if the system gets too hot from overuse. Often it will do this without warning.
