Alfa's In Trans Am

There are a lot of people here who have pictures of Alfa's racing in the Trans Am series. Let's post all the pictures we can find here on this thread. Here are just a few of what I have. I need to scan more.

The red/white/green GTA pictured above is not our GTA, it's the "sister car".

Here are a couple of our GTA below. It has quite a bit of history as well.

Great fun to see the old Laguna Seca shots. I spent a weekend there watching Formula 5000 races in '71. A cousin of mine was (at the time) married to Skip Barber who was racing then. Prior to that I had been to SCCA events at Cotati and hillclimbs in Idaho and Washington state in the early sixties (stretching the memory cells a bit).

Makes me want to go to the track . . . now! George

Here are a couple of Horst Kwech's GTA's in '69. I got them off Tony Adamowicz's website but I'm not sure it's him driving.

Jochen Rindt in the first TransAm race, Sebring 1966, winning 1st overall, beating Bob Tullius's V-8 Dodge Dart among others. His mechanic, Businello as I recall, had rolled the car earlier that week in practice, thus the wrinkles in the bodywork.

I believe, but I'm not certain, that the Rindt car above is now in the UK, owned by a leading Bugatti specialist. The car I'm thinking of was on the race card at the Goodwood Revival this year, but did not race. It has an all-alloy floor.

Alex.

Anthony, have you been in contact with Ed Wachs? He shows up in the T/A days in various GTAs. Both LHD and RHD. Wonder if he has any S/Ns recorded? or other GTA racer identifing info.

Regards

Ken
