More Trans Am
I got these from my sales manager at work. We were talking Alfa's and he mentioned some pictures he took at the 1970 and 1972 Trans Am races at Riverside.
Charlie Thieriot having an off road excursion. 1970 Riverside
Charlie Thieriot at speed. 1970 Riverside
Bert Everett (752 507) chasing Horst Kwech (775 460). Note date stamp on picture. 1970 Riverside
Bert Everett (750 507) being chased by Don Pike (BMW) and Horst Kwech (775 460). Note the later nose grafted onto Kwech's GTA. 1970 Riverside
Bert Everett smiling while he looks at Horst Kwech in his mirror. Everett went on to win this race. 1970 Riverside

Charlie Thieriot leading an unidentified Datsun. Note the feder repair to the left front on the GTA. 1972 Riverside
Charlie Thieriot leading what looks to be one of the Wetson GTV's. If you look close, you can see the detail of lights and flares that would be on a Wetson car. 1972 Riverside
Horst Kwech leading an unidentified GTA (Lee Midgley or Vic Provenzano?). 1972 Riverside
Harry Theodorocopulos in his Wetson GTV. 1972 Riverside
Unidentified GTA leading John Morton in his Datsun 510 and one of the Hyde Park BMW's (Jeff Kline?)

Simon posted this picture earlier in the thread. Look at the circled #85 GTA hood in the picture (far right). Thats GTA s/n 752 533 driven by Al Brizzard. It's one of the few rhd GTA's that Autodelta prepared spefically for ARI to sell to customers for the Trans Am series.

I see the Red one is carrying a BS so maybe this was a club racer??

I want to say that picture was taken at Sebring in 1966 or 1967. I'd have to look at the results to confirm. Here is a picture of Jim Baker in his GTA at Grass Valley later on. I assume the car didn't survive that one?
I have no idea who is the red one. Could the green one be the Ed Wach's GTA that bb member GTV3EVER took in Canada?

"Charlie Thieriot having an off road excursion. 1970 Riverside"
That particular excursion was the result of a sheared lower right rear brake caliper bolt. The caliper rotated on the upper bolt and then acted as a lathe tool to split the Campy wheel from the inside out. This was in the pre-race warmup practice. We went on to fix the brake and replace the broken wheel. We thought we were in good shape for the race.
As was our custom, we had the car up on 4 jack stands, and ran the car in third gear at an idle (1500 RPM) for several minutes before heading for the pre-grid to warm everything up. At this particular race we where paddocked next to Otto Zipper's motor-home. Zipper waited until 9 minutes before the grid was to open and told me that we had a bent axle, (he had seen the wobbly run-out from his motor home, which I could not see from the driver's seat) thinking that this would preclude Charlie from making the race.
We had a completely set up spare axle w/ brakes and everything ready to go in the truck... so in a very good example of what makes a good team great, we pulled the whole assembly out and shoved a new one in, bled the brakes AND made the grid on time... earning the true respect of Otto Zipper and several of our competitors.
So the picture doesn't tell the whole story, here's an instance where driver error wasn't a factor!

Since we're talking about Trans Am, I've attached a shot of Kwech's 1969 ride and a driver's meeting shot. Both from the 1969 Race in St. Jovite

There were 6 GTA finishers at St Jovite in 1970, see attached, you have captured 5 for sure at the start? Everett in #25 RHD and the Green one, Norman? or Wachs also on RHD. Kwech in first LHD, I think Midgley in the 4th GTA LHD and the 5th LHD?? (norman, wachs, or Harry alphabet?), Sixth maybe a roof line.
This thread is great. Lots of new to me photos of 752507. Anthony so far the shot at Riverside of 752507 is the best I've seen for right side detail. Thank your collegue for sharing.
regards
Ken

Yes now I see the white on centre of the nose, same as on Kweck, Wetson team cars. So is the green one Shankle or possibly Wachs? Did Shankle drive RHD? I can't remember. Wachs is known to.
I'll wait for the Hi res pics to print. My email can handle them.
thanks
Ken

Seeing these Trans Am pictures is a real blast. What a series it must have been in it's glory days.
We used to get ex Trans Am Mustangs and Camaros out here, but sadly no Alfas.
I can see more GTAs on one grid than the total number of road and race ones added together, that ever came to Australia.
Keep posting photos guys, this is great!
