ID for pictures
Back to the original post: Here's some identification:
Pic #1 is CHT in the rain at Kent, WA 1972
Pic #2 & #3 is CHT in turn 5 at Road America, Elkhart Lake, 1971, the car went on to flip and disappear into the woods.
#4 (B&W) is in the hot pit at Laguna Seca 1972
#5 in the paddock Laguna Seca 1972 inspecting the damage to front left that resulted from contact that flipped Lee Midgly during practice. Both cars made the grid the next day after all nighters. The cast of characters is: Left standing- Tony Van Curen; Bending down- Hector Vasqueze; Squatting- Tom Hines; Behind Charlie's shoulder- Chuck Miller; Charlie Thieriot talking to me (I'm in the yellow slicker with my "body-work" gloves on)... I don't know the onlooker in the back ground.

I have an article about Kwech's GTA in an old issue of European Car - I'll have to find it again. Pictures were pretty good and I think there was a cutaway drawing of it. Also there's a TZ article too if I remember.

Simon,
Those are some cool pics. Behind Ed Wachs' GTA, you can see a bit of Lee Midgley's #93 GTA.

3 pictures of the ex - Lee Midgely # 93 GTA as it sits today
The ex - Al Brizzard #85 Autodelta T/A as it sits today.
Both of these cars were frequent competitors in the T/A series.

Anthony, just tending to detail.
These pictures were taken at 1969 Trans Am race #7 at Mount Tremblant, St, Jovite, Quebec.
The the first pic of RHD #25 is of what was to become Bert Everett’s GTA. In 1969, 752507 was owned and raced by Gaston Andrey. Andrey must not have started this race at St Jovite. See attached Results. Andrey sold #25 to Everett in 1970 just before race #4 at Mid Ohio.
The green #68 LHD GTA must have been piloted by Ed Wachs, as he is the only Alfa shown in the result. See the attached result.

So I have 2 articles on GTAs from European Car magazine - they're about 10 years old. One is a very original GTAm from Brazil and the other is an article about Kwech's GTA. Let me know if people want me to scan them or something.

Scan the Kwech one so we can keep this thread in the line of Trans Am. I have that issue tucked away in a box somewhere.

It was mine, I had it............I let it go!
That is the # 3 Horst Kwech GTA, now I understand this has to be verified but it is very well the story that before it went to wide "GTAm" fenders and some front end configuration changes it was this car.
Looking at another "special" Alfa..... Hopefully sometime soon.
Regards,

Eliseo,
I remember you showing me pics of the #3 car on your visit to California in 2002. You told me it was for sale and I didn't want a car that had been widened and had a "nose job". Now that the car has been verified a Horst Kwech car, I wish I got it from you that time! It's the 1970 Trans Am U2 Championship winning car! DAMN! At least it went to Dr. Martinez who will restore it correctly and then race it. Oh well.....can't have them all

Dave Burns GTA
Here is a a scanned shot of my car in the 1971 Laguna Seca Trans Am race as reported in the 11/6/71 issue of Competition Press & Autoweek. Many thanks to Italcarguy for bringing this issue to my attention at the last Coronado Speed Festival. The originally red car was painted a dark metallic blue then white with a Peter Max styled orange/yellow/red pattern on the sides. The driver/owner (Dave Burns) and the seller (John Cordell), who was the tuner at the time, have attested that this car was in that race since they recalled hitting the front left quarter while Burns was "watching Lee Midgley in the rear view mirror" before the corkscrew. Both gentlemen are still around but do not recall much else of those days in terms of which Alfa they raced in which event. Today, the chassis is restored to the original red, suspension is installed and I am working on the 1600 motor.
