BTW.... the Alfa Dealer was "Econo Imports... in Manhattan Beach, Charlie Thieriot was the service manager, Dave Veghar was the "other" mechanic, and I was the Parts manager. We would regularly lock the salesmen out of the showroom and force them to refer all Alfa customers to the service department because the salesmen were all on loan from the Datsun / Suburu store down the street. We sold a bunch of GTVs!

Bare aluminum GTA, etc.
Hi all,
Thanks for the input about slides and the BARE NAKED GTA,{sounds like a punk rock band} I am forwarding the slides to the Rimicci Bros to copy and post.
Thanks, Rick for your similar offer. I have a lot of other slides to sort through.
On another similar topic. I just got 2 envelopes of B/W photos that I purchased from the original sources. I only have time to scan the first two, tonight. It is the poor wrecked remains of the #3 Kwech car at Riverside. The other batch contain photos of Kwech and Winkler, both driving the #6 car. I'll post them tomorrow if time permits.

Riverside1967
Hi
I came home early tonight to scan these in. The weather sucks and I'm shaking off a cold. So, I'll immerse myself in the past for an hour or two.
These are more of the pics that I just got in the mail. After Kweck's #3 car was wrecked, he and Monty Winkler shared the #6 for the race. They finished a number of laps down. Can you guess why?? Kwech's helmet has the horizontal stripes and Monty has a darker helmet and wears glasses, to distinguish them, if you can't actually see their faces.

More Riverside 67
Hi again,
I didn't realize that you can only post 5 files at a time, so here's the last of Riverside plus a photo of the Las Vegas race. It apparently went into evening, as all the cars have auxilliary lighting and the paddock lights are on. I think that the Alfa has #3 on the hood, but it is hard to read. I suspect that after the Riverside crash, Kwech switched his #3 onto the other car and continued to the end of the season. There were only two races left and Winkler doesn't show up in the results after Riverside.
Does anyone have a March 68 Motor Trend? The photo has a notation on the back that it was used in a TA article in March68. For that matter, Motor Trend probably covered most of the TA season. I only saved R&T and SCG from those days.

So, with the help of the SCCA race result, Provenzano on RHD GTA #97, Del Taylor on LHD GTA#30 ( is it 30??), and RHD GTA #6, Kweck or Winkler off in the distance.
Anyone know Taylors race number?
Ciao
Ken

Well, there were plusses and minuses. Plusses included feeling your car float through Turn 1, trying to take Turn 2 without lifting, trying to opposite-lock Turn 6, enjoying the banking of Turns 8/9, and the back straight. Also, your car didn't end up looking like it was driven through a sandblasting machine as will Willow
Minuses included trying to change into one's driving suit in filthy restrooms, and truly lousy food
I can still close my eyes and drive lap after lap of Riverside...
However, with my racing career behind me (barring a miracle), I miss Laguna Seca as it was before the infield was added. Even now, the section from under the bridge goin up the hill, all the way down what was Turn 9 (now Turn 12?), looks to still be a blast.
Sometime, I'll tell the story of having snuck onto the LBGP circut in my Alfa on the Wednesday before the '82 USGP...

I got to drive my Super around the track during free lunchtime driving (totally unrestricted) during an AROSC time trial in 1979/80, and rode in my friend's Studebaker Cruiser a few laps too, which we managed to spin (air shocks, glass packs, jacked-up rear end).

Minilite wheels from Trans-Am
Hi
I hope that this isn't off topic. I'm weeding out spare parts for my restoration and came across 11 original Minilite wheels left over from the late Trans-Am and SCCA years. Since my car will be restored to 67 spec, we'll be using original Campy's, so the Minilites are not going to be used. I'm offering them to Trans-Am BB members first. If no one is intesested, I'll put a thread on the GTV, GTA forum or lastly, put them on e-Bay. There are 4 6X14's and 7 7X14's. I will post pics if it's appropriate or send them to individual members. I don't really have a price in mind, except that they are fairly rare. I want to put the $ toward the restoration, so I want as much as possible, while trying to be fair to the BB members. See post 398 on this thread. The pics are small, but those are some of the 7X14's on the car when MECCA raced it.

Images from a BOBCOR Catalogue
When I looked at the notes that BOBCOR had written on the first picture of #25, GTA 752507, I at first thought here we go again. NO way, thinking he ment for 1972. 1972 was the only year for BOBCOR livery for 752507.
The Caption says;
BERT EVERETT
FIRST PLACE
CANADA
RIVERSIDE,CALIF
LEXINGTON, OHIO
LIME ROCK, CONN
SEATTLE, WASH
BRYeR, NH
ALBERTA,CANADA
DONNYBKE,WISC
Well 752507 did win at all of these races except Alberta where she was second and Bert Everett was the driver except at Lime Rock and Bryer where Gaston Andrey drove. See my clarification notes below.
CANADA, 1972 Everett @ Sanair
RIVERSIDE, CALIF 1970 Everett
LEXINGTON, OHIO 1970 Everett @ Mid Ohio
LIME ROCK, CONN 1970 Andrey
SEATTLE, WASH 1970 Everett @ Kent
BRYER, NH 1969 Andrey
ALBERTA, CANADA 1971 Everett 2nd Place @ Edmonton
DONNYBKE, WISC 1971 Everett
So there are some inaccuracies and omissions as GTA 752507 ran in over 30 Trans Am races from Sebring in 1966 to Riverside in 1972 but this list captures the wins.
The second picture caption is incorrect as Bert only managed a 5th at the Glen in 1972 not a first as captioned.
The 3rd pic is uncaptioned
The fourth shows a BOBCOR #26, LHD GTA, Maybe the Ken Scheley or Wayne Schere GTA. Someone can clarify this one I hope.
Regards
Ken

Road America
Here is a photo Larry Davis sent me. Larry Davis went to some of the races with Horst but said he did not remember the details on this one. This appears to be Road America and I can not vouch for the date. These are tri-color cars and it may be from 67.

1971 Laguna Seca Trans Am Entry List
Got this off the net. Shows Everett on #2 Orange Wetson GTV. He reportedly ran the race but was DNF and doen't show up in some race result lists. Can anyone confirm Bert drove #2 Orange GTV and not #25 Red GTA in this race of races.
Ciao
Ken
