Thanks Ken and yes I have this issue courtesy of Max Banks and his father Richard. I am searching for photos of the left side of car from 1966 Trans-Am races. I have some great photos of the right side but the left side of the car in 1966 Trans-Am livery eludes me. Don Gwynne, a Lotus guy, sent me a photo from the Greenvalley race, but I can't make out the details.
There must be an Alfista out there with photos of the left side of this car in 1966.
We are painting the car in January and applying the livery that month so I have a few months left to find a photo.

Thanks Guy's
I would like to thank Ken,Bob and all the other contributers for keeping this fine thread alive. I've be home with walking pneumonia for ten days and feeling down, losing so much time from my work.
Thank god for AlfaBB. over the last few days I've been able to peel back more data on the RHD GTA I have in storage.I learned from the 1966 VIR program that although the car was once owned by Joe Locario in Texas, his drivers at the 66 VIR trans-am were Russ Simon and Billl Steel ( car #17 finished 9th).
I want to get up north this winter to visit one of the cars past owners (Jon Norman) to see if i can purchase any images or history from his past stewardship.
I had some great shots of the car I took at Riverside 1979 when Dave Vegher ran it in the IMSA Times Grandprix, but these were lost in a house fire in 1990.
I'm hopeful some one else took some images 0f # 14 that day.
All the best guys, have a great Xmas!
Cheers, Don.

I have pics of some of Vegher's cars from some AROSC Riverside events in the late 70s; maybe I have some of it? I can look through my slides. Got identifying info for the 77-80 period? I guess RHD might be a pretty significant giveaway.

Hi Andrew, Dave Vegher's # 14 IMSA GTA is easy to spot, as it was nearing the end of a long Trans-Am development curve. When I saw the car at the 1979 Times Grand Prix she had fresh red paint, typo 33 wheels, full cage,GTA-JR panels and every trick Dave and (past owner Jon Norman) could dial-in over the years. The huge front air dam read Veloce Motors West (Dave's shop).
One of the sponsors were San Marino Clothers another was (A.D.S. Alfa dealer supply). The race program that day listed the car as a 70 GTV 2000.The car ran well in practice and was very loud. Dave never told me why the GTA DNF'ed that day, I was with Brett Lunger and could not get over to the Vegher pit. A short time later Paul Van Der Linden told me the GTA was for sale so we headed for Dave's shop with trailer in tow.
Last year Dave told the me the GTA was Jon Norman's old race car which Jon
confirmed.
Any images or storys you have would be great.
All the best, Don Paul

I'll look. Dave seemed to bring a lot of different cars in those days, most of which were stock-looking. But I do recall one developed car with that air dam. I'll check.

I looked at my pictures, which are likely from spring 1978, at an AROSC time trial at Riverside.
I have pics of a BSR (just BS on one panel)-classed car in a GTV body, with insanely wide front and rear flares, not done real professionally. It has GTV door handles, which is what makes me think it's a GTV. It had a giant airdam fastened with a bunch of Dzus fasteners, but in the pictures I have, it was both in the pits and on the track without the air dam. So I don't know what it said on it. It had race number 49, and says "Prepared by Barlow Racing" on it, and "paint and body by AJK." This doesn't sound like the car. But maybe someone can ID it?
The two cars I have pics of from this event with the Veloce Motors West airdam at the same event are (1) a street-bodied RHD GTA in red with No roll cage, probably Cal license 393 PXB. A similar street LHD GTA with the same type airdam had Cal license 019 SQJ.
The pics I have are BW prints taken on (gasp!) film. If these cars sound like something anyone wants pics of, I can make prints and mail them. I don't have a scanner though, to make images to post.

Correction; because my first Giulia Super appears in these pics, which I bought in May 1978, it must be asummer 1978 or spring 1979 AROSC event.

AJK was a body shop here in the San Fernando Valley. The owner, Adam sold it in the mid/late 80's and it changed name at that time. They did quite a few Alfa's.

Happy New Year Andrew ! Thanks for taking the time to look at your images.
My Hot 19 year old Italian girlfriend took a bunch of pictures of # 14 that day but we broke up badly 20 years ago (she handed a large bucher knife to me at very high speed ) last I heard she was living with a bookie in Ft.Lauderdal.
God hates a coward....I'll try to find her. .....well I could allways ask Dave
Vegher if he has any.
All the Best.

Thank you Alleggerita for giving the Midgley GTA VIN! Since the Alfas were required to bolt on ballast for TransAm races because of their TwinCam engine, it is possible that Midgley decided to use the cheaper steel fenders instead of the original alloy ones. Do you know who sold and bought it in 1986?
Following GTAs are listed for the 1966 VIR race, all of them can be seen on the starting grid pics
No. 6 GTA #752648 RHD Horst Kwech/Gaston Andrey, Lake Forest, Illinois/Framingham, Massachussettes (USA), Knauz Continental Autos Inc., Lake Forest, Illinois, 3oa, 1cl (T2.0, photo)

No. 63 GTA RHD Richard Peritz/Gerry Dolman, Little Neck, New York/Cambria Heights, New York (USA), Richard Peritz, Little Neck, New York, 12oa, 9cl (T2.0, photo)

Hi Martin, I was re-reading this post of yours about the 1966 VIR and noted a couple of Typing errors that you could edit to correct.
No. 1 GTA was 3rd in class
No 17 GTA was RHD
No. 47 GTA was 23 in class
and the following For clarification No 39 and No 48 were listed on the entry list but did not arrive (DNA?) or DNS.
752533 Brizzard, usually #85, not mentioned for VIR I think??
Regards and Happy New Year
Ken

Thank you Ken, I have now corrected my typing errors in the post.
Yes DNA means "did not arrive". The GTA drivers were listed in the Virginia Press Release of ARI, but the result list do not show Brizzard according to Anthony's pdf-files.
Btw the Giulia from your photo in post #334 is very sure:
19671008 TransAm Kent 300 T – Pacific Raceways, Kent, Washington (USA), No. 12 TIS? Don Muellhaupt, Salem, Oregon (USA), 19oa, 8cl (T2.0, DNF)
All the best
