I'm wiped out with packing for a MAJOR move right now... but in a couple of weeks I'll post a retrospect of the Pre-Trans-Am / Post SCCA B/S National Championship days with Vic Provenzano... one of the coolest racers (and Dads & Husbands!) Around! To be continued...

Heh Rick, Glad that #85 ID is cleared up and thanks for the SCCA link and it's further links. I was unaware of that link.
Ciao

Ken are you aware of this link with complete Trans-Am results from 1966-1972?
http://homepage.mac.com/frank_de_jon...s/TransAm.html
It is too bad that the SCCA does not keep an online historical record. We should thank people like Frank Dejong and the VIR historian, Nick England for their work.

more photos from VIR
Nick England just sent me this link to some more photos from the 1966 VIR 400 Trans-Am race. The photos were taken by E. Gordon Warren. Nick just found these in a box left to him by E. Gordon Warren.

The last photo will be very helpful to Roman and I in restoring my Car to the proper fuel filler configuration.

Bob,
Those are a couple great pictures there. I'm very happy to see the Kwech car is being put back to how it was. I can't wait to see it when it arrives.

What's interesting is that all 3 GTAs are right hand drive.

Thanks Bob, yes I was aware of de Jongs page but I generally refer to the one at
http://www.trans-amseries.com/results.htm
as it has the SCCA results, or I refer to a hard copy of these same pages that I got from Bruce Perry many years ago. The SCCA pages carry some info that de Jong does not. Don't know if the opposite is true.
Nice Pic, now posted, of our GTAs at VIR, Mine being #42 752 507 Richards/Alderman.
As my GTA raced on in the T/A till Riverside in 1972. I will likely restore her to the 1972 livery. I did once concider the 1970 livery as she had several wins that year under Andrey then Everett. Any opinion. 1966 livery is not an option concidered.
regards
Ken

Gus & Burt do represent the class act for your car... but either livery would be "authentic". That said, I would do whatever looks cooler.

In 1966 ARI, Alfa Romeo Inc. Newark, organized a race incentive program to encourage entries for the then new race series, the Trans Am. They were offering Autodelta preped GTAs.
The following 8 Serial Numbers of RHD GTAs are generally thought to be the ones brought in for the Program. The other information is as I understand it and subject to correction. Some, if not all of these GTAs, were also raced after 1966 in the Trans Am and SCCA Club races.
S/N - Original Owner/Driver- 1966 Race Number- Known Today
752 503- Ingleheart/ Ingleheart- 95- yes
752 507- Baker & Heinj/Richards- 42- yes
752 525- Baker?-
752 533- Brizard / Brizard- 85- yes
752 642- Baker?-
752 648- Knaus/Kweck- 40/6/16- yes
(edit)1967 issue from ARI
752 536- Knaus-
752 573- Knaus?- #?- yes
Note: Baker and Heijn was a dealer in Vermont, Baker refers to Jim Baker of Atlanta Ga., Knaus was a dealer in IL?
? = uncertainty

Ken,
I have the following information in the Letter from ARI to Paul Spruell dated April 4, 1986.
752.648 sold to Knauz in 1966 (now owned by me)
752.573 sold to Knauz in March 1967
752.536 sold to Knauz in July 1967
My car ran number 40, 6, and 16 in 1966 Trans-Am and number 303 in the B-Sedan ARRC.
I have the Autodelta build sheet and engine data for my car.
It may be that my car was at the 1967 Daytona race that Kwech DNF as that race was 2-3-67 and the second RHD Autodelta car was not sold to Knauz until March.
I am working on clearing up this detail. Where is 536? Anthony our unofficial registrar can you add to this information?
The location was Knauz Continental Auto, Lake Forrest, IL

Ken has just as much, if not more info than I do. This morning we were actually trying to figure out where those unaccounted cars went, including 752 536.
One place we have to look is Japan. I have a friend who owned a rhd Trans Am GTA back in the 80's. When the car market was hot in the late 80's he sold it to a collector over there. He is trying to see if he has some paperwork showing what the chassis number was.

I would imagine one of those may be the car that Don Gabouri owns. He purchased a stripped but prepared RHD shell (with alloy flares) and GTaM wheels through me from Dave Vegher in the early 80's. Don has receintly joined the AlfaBB and will post info soon.

By strange coincedence, Don sent this email to me today.
Hi Paul , I talked to Dave Vegher today and he told me that the GTA rhd I bought from him belonged to racer Jon Norman. I then placed a call to Jon and he was nice enough to provide the following info:
The GTA rhd I own was a Autodelta GTA owned by him. ( I told him my car had a replaced firewall without I.D. stamp) Jon told the fire wall had been replaceed after a shunt at Sears Point. in1970. The car was owned and driven by Joe Lacario.
Anyone want to add to this?
