Driving through the hills [video]

I went for a drive through the hills, looking for a nice untrafficed road that could be used for hillclimb/time trials. No luck yet... I did manage to break my gearstick tho...drove home in 3rd gear. The bolt securing the stick to the shift linkage was loose, and fell out.

Stock suspension Guilietta 1981, with some worn bushes (especially radius rod)..old and hard 185/70/13s, and what Alfa Romeo thought *adequate* brakes.

http://wm.oneamongmany.net/pentamax/alfahills.mpg 33meg download, 7 minutes long. Some of the more entertaining parts of the drive.
There's a lack of tight and twisty roads around here unfortunatly.

Nice footage. The sound is good, too. I miss the sound of an Alfa.

The camera angle makes it seem like the car is going really fast. Maybe it really IS going fast. How fast?

Good scenery -- where is it?

Great video!!

I went full screen with it and stuck my head close to the monitor. For a minute or so I was sitting right there in the cockpit.

Thanks for the post.

Speeds were mostly around the 100kph mark through the corners, less for tighter ones, with max speeds reached around 150kph.

The scenery is all around Perth, Western Australia, out in the hills, yet still in the city (Perth is a very spread out city). And I'm driving on the wrong side of the road as we drive on the right hand side in Australia. The occasional lane crossing were because the Alfa feels a little light at higher speeds, and I had good visability.

I made a small mount that goes in behind the RHS top seatbelt bolt. I'm also going to make another one for the passenger side, as this one is a little close to my head.
I've also got a semi-fisheye style lens on my DV cam.

Awesome video pal! Similar roads to the back roads where I am which are a blast in the 33 and Sprint. I'll dig out the camera and see if I can get some footage...
