Not bad Damien. Looks like good 'ol Irish tarmac.
Where was it? Looks like perfect weather.
So is Rally Ireland part of a bid to get a WRC event?
My 1st rally was the Circuit of Ireland when Michelle Mouton was flying high in the Quattro. 85, I think. She kinda underestimated how tough Irish rallying was...killed the car. Ahhh, memories.

The first few pictures are the Saturday stages which where run in Co.Sligo and they where tarmac events all right the stages where very nice indeed we got to drive them to get to our junctions.
The Sunday was cross the boarder into the North for the Forestry section of it, it was a kinda mixture of both, personally I prefered the forestry as the corner we where on had about a Km of a straight into a rutted corner there was some offs there very good to marshall.
Yes this is a bid for them to have a WRC event in Ireland they where really just showing off how they could run a duel event here and give the WRC people some choice whether they want a tarmac or gravel event.
I have never seen a Circuit of Ireland event as I am too young but I have heard the stories though.

Stratos, and WRX
I have heard that the dino sixer is one hell of a beautiful sound I've not had the pleasure of ever hearing it though. Makes sense that it would be as it was originally an F-2 engine from the good old days when mechanical things were mechanical. Does anyone know of other cars this engine was used in? Great Pics do they have any historical rally, trials, or hillclimbs in the area? Theres nothing like a rally to get you close to the action it looks like you could almost reach out and touch them as they pass! I really like the one with the WRX going into the very first part of the scandinavian flick.
Thanks do you have more?
Jeff

I don't know if that engine was used any other cars than the Dino and the Stratos but what a sound its unreal.
Thanks, ya in Ireland there is a very healthy historics rallying scene and hillclimbs if you had no plans for any weekend and willing to travel there would be some kind of motorsport on here.
Ya that picture is one of my favourites as well Eamon Bolands Ex-WRC fOCUS its the picture of the car half way going up the lane.
I was marshalling at it and was nearly taken out by a mad bastard in a WRC Impreza he miles too fast over the jump and over shot by a mile lol
Thats part of the fun I suppose
Ya I have some more not great though I'll pm you them if you want them.
Damien.

Check out this site: http://www.crspics.com/rallyindex.html
I actually started following rallies in IRL at age 12. I was my Dad's navigator as we raced from stage to stage. Back then he had a FIAT 128 3P, then a FIAT 131 Sport, then a Giulietta (Nuova) 2.0 and lastly a Croma Turbo ie. We'd always make sure to drive some stages too: Moll's Gap, Gap of Dunloe, Caragh Lake @ 4am, Healy Pass, Sally Gap....legendary stuff.
It was a great time for spectating. I recall 205T16s, Metro 6R4s, RS200s, Opel Mantas, E30 M3s, TR7s (Tony Pond), Quattros, Stratos, R5 Turbos, Cosworths, 911SCRSs, Integrales, many, many Escorts, many Minis, mad Swedes in Volvo 240s....then the mighty Group B era came to a crashing end and most of the afformentioned ended up in Rallycross.
There were hillclimbs too. Around 2mi from my house (S Dublin) was the Cruagh Road hillclimb. All kinds of 4-wheeled vehicles took part; from MGA's to Formula Atlantics.
Ah, those were the days.

Ya Molls gap is a savage stage same with the Gap of Dunloe have to love them all there legnedary stages.
I like the pics of the West Cork Rally this year in the link you posted, a friend of mine picks out the stages for that rally it's another classic rally.
I especially love this picture
I know the days of the Group B cars must have been crazy to watch burning around the stages, it was the RS2000 that killed them off unfortunetly.
Ireland is well know for it's love of the MKII Escorts steer from the rear they keep the crowds entertained the 4WD cars can get very boring after a while.
All the Cossie Escorts have nearly been replaced with Evo rally cars, I's nearly say there are more rally Evo's than there are road cars in Ireland.

Not to get off thread, but in addition to F2, Fiat used the engine in the Fiat Dino and Fiat 130. See thread www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/showthread.php?t=14147 Actually the engine was built by Fiat to Ferrari specs/design, for the Ferrari Dino, Fiat Dino, Lancia Stratos, and Fiat 130. There used to be a sound/video clip of a Fiat Dino at speed on the yahoo Fiat Dino chat group. Seems to have been deleted. I have heard the engine in the Ferrari and Fiat, and both sound beautiful but different (exhaust length & shapes) I imagine that the Stratos sounds closer to the Ferrari, (but perhaps louder) because of the mid engine layout.
