I've been giving this alot of thought, and pics like the ones above underscore my point. Why doesn't Alfa reissue the GTV/GTA to fulfill this "retro" craze that all the other car manufacturers are cashing in on. Look at Ford with the Thunderbird and Mustang. Yes, I know the Thunderbird was a big flop, but not because of the concept. And the Mustang is flying out of the showrooms. And look at the Mazda Miata. A ripoff of the Lotus Elan and Alfa Spider with modern mechanicals, hardly changed since it's intro, and they're still selling like hotcakes.
Alfa must still have the machinery for the body panels somewhere. Imagine a GTV and GTA with modern TwinSpark Engines, updated electricals, etc. Who wouldn't plunk down $30-$40K for one right now?
Just my 2 cents worth.

Unforutately Alfa don't have the presses for the original panels... my job would be much easier if they did!!! They would need to modernise the shape a bit to appeal to the masses, like the mustang etc. Alfa's underlying problem is FIAT and its absolute lack of cash. I thought the 8C was amazing and a perfect way to hint back to Alfa's of old, but FIAT poured water over the coals of that project>>> SUCH A SHAME!!! . Lets hope Alfas new ties with Maserati will bring new life into the blood!
p.s. i would prefer it if they didn't bastardise the 105 series with an underfunded project, its a beautiful thing from their history and should probably stay there unless serious cash was found and poured into it!
p.p.s is anyone here reall yclever with photoshop to design a modernised 105 GTA, would love to see what it could look like!

Max, I wrote this real long and eloquent reply to your comment, and then my browser locked up. To summarize, I love the 1055, just like it is. It still looks so fresh compared to cars half as old and even new cars. I was looking at a Datsun 240Z the other day and realized how long in the tooth it was starting to look. Not so for the GTV. I agree though, I'd hate for them to bastardize it and ruin the name.

Well, they have penned some decent models, but nothing like a Giugiaro. You're right. Nothing else comes close to the Italian design studios, IMHO.
