Hi Fred!
Who translated? You or google?
I hope my english is better to understand than that. ;-)
But a latin saying is:
"Ut desint vires, tamen est laudanda voluptas."
Translated something like:
"Even if it is lacking the strength, nevertheless the intention is to be praised."
I am sure someone knows a better translation for this...
And thanks for the compliment Fred!
Regards Clemens

Just a small update:
Car with 7x15" rims and slicks for the next ride on a racetrack.
It looks a bit weird, because the slicks are very low and the wheel arch looks so big...

Hi
About your Zagato. Does it have any aluminium panels?
how can you get body parts for this car?

1300 Junior Zagato
Hi Jpv!
The Zagato belongs to my dad. You better hope not to need body panels. If you are lucky you get some NOS parts, but they are very very rare and expensive.
Our Zagato only has a alluminium engine bonnet. The rest is steel (even the doors). Zagato built randomly cars with steel or alluminium doors (some cars are said to have one in steel and one in alluminium )
But our Zagato was the daily driver of my parents for nearly 20 years (1978 - 1996). Now its retired...

Isn't racing with a wooden steering wheel dangerous? ... I thought it was illegal for this reason.
Not sure about Alfa Romeo steering wheels?, but if the rim is only wood when you crash the wood breaks and then you just have the alloy spokes to spear you ...
Hence why no new car now makes wheels like that ... just part wood.

Alfa 105 steering wheels have a metal ring inside the wood.
I have a destroyed Berlina 2000 wheel to prove that.

Hi Pete!
I think you are right, but that was just a "club racing" event, so any car with a licence plate and a driver with a helmet in it was allowed to drive ;-)
BTW The wooden steering wheel gets very very slippery with sweat on your hands. Used my leather gloves after the first run...

GTech
Hi there!
My Alfa got a new distributor and got dynoed with a GTech Pro. The curves are with new and old distributor, power output in hp and torque in Nm.
I am content with it, because a original 2 liter Alfa has around 110-115 hp...
But a new cylinder head is in progress
Regards Clemens

Greetz, I was stationed in Karlsruhe 1968-1971 at the Neureut Kaserne. I loved Karlsruhe and had many good times there.

Hello Guys!
I want to introduce myself a bit in this threat, because Clemens is a friend of mine and I am as crazy as he is about italian cars, especially Alfa.
Last year in January my dream came true when I bought my GT Junior.
When I look back, I have to say that it was a bit of a phoney. The car wasn“t in a driveable condition as the seller told me...after a few kilometres, the clutch doesn“t work. At this moment I didn“t know exactely why...but after changing the (broken) cylinders of the clutch - the clutch didn`t work either - I knew that it clutch itself had to be broken, too.
So the start in my "Alfa career" was a bit disappointing...but every moment when I sit behind the wheel I knew that it was the right decision to buy it...and, day after day, my feeling about this car became better.
My knowledge of the car grows, so I recognized, that my car has the big brakes and the rear axle with LSD and the long transmission of the 2000gtv. Unfotunately, the carburettors (Dell`ortos) were matched for the 2000, too. In conclusion it means, that the previous possessor had a 2 liter engine in this car before he sells it.....
So my decision was, only one and a half month ago, to search for a 2 liter engine and rebuild the car...it“s not original, but I hope it will be great fun. So, in december I found an engine with the help of the german 105 forum which I built in the car together with my father about two weeks ago. Now there are a bit things to to; synchronisation of the carburettors and renewing of the ignition system, because there have been some problems, too...
So I“m very looking forward to drive it in a few days...
That“s the story of my car...I hope it is a bit interesting..and sorry for my english!
...and, after that: here“s a picture of me and my car at the famous "Herkules" building near Kassel in Germany:
regards, Martin

Two crazy german mechanical engineering students, two red Bertones with 2-liter engine --> twice the fun.
Greetz and welcome on the board

Hey Clemmens
How did your car handle the slicks? Did it twisted the body?

@jpv: Sorry, haven't tried the slicks yet, because one of them is broken.

Thats a sweet car. I kinda dig those wheels you have the slicks on, I haven't seen a set of those before. The car sounds great, and your carbon air box is indeed cool.
See ya,
Will
