Pics from the Mostre Scambios in Italy - Imola

Here's a few pics from the Mostre Scambios in italy. Got to say many thanks to Antonio (GuilaSprintGT) and Brian (ossodiseppia) for giving me details in regards to the event and its' timing.
The entire race track of Imola is taken up with new and second hand vendors of italian motorcycle and car parts.
It was brilliant fun trying to negotiate for parts that I wanted particularly when my italian is absolutely apauling (I think at one stage I said something about one vendors uncle and a few other things that probably aren't appropriate for this forum - at least that's what the gentleman standing beside said he found so amusing).
I also managed to get some new parts suppliers as contacts and am hoping that means of communication will be easier via fax (many of them are not right up to speed with email yet). more pics to come

The third group of pics - in order is (although don't quote me as someone on here will much more likely be correct):
parts and rubbers + random people
silver Alfa stepnose GTV
red Fiat...unsure of exact model
red Alfa junior zagato
navy/black Ferrari

Calling Dr Etceterini

I believe the third car down in the third group of photos is a Moretti, a rebodied Fiat 850. Dr Etceterini can tell us for sure.

That little Fiat with the wire wheels is a Moretti 850 Sportiva.

Will find the details of contacts I grabbed then I'll send em on Pete - you'll have to get any quotes & communicate in italian and the price will be in Euros but the Aussie dollar is quite strong at the moment, there's plenty of websites that will change English to Italian and getting parts direct from italy may be a bit cheaper.
Always good to shop around anyway...

James,

Aahhh .. happy memories of last year! I spent two days at Imola and even that was not long enough. There was a team of German guys who were really organised and cherry-picked the best of the parts by lunchtime on the first day *grrr*. It was interesting to be able to feel the quality of some parts against others, notably rubber trim, I thought Flamigni's work was much better than the rest e.g. Cicognani. I found a great guy from Calabria called Rodolfo Barbalace, who has a mint early Sprint GT like mine, and who had a market stand at the back of the circuit, I don't know if you met him or not? These fairs are so useful because so many parts dealers in Italy have not got informative websites, if anything at all, and it's amazing what a conversation can reveal about other parts that somehow got left at the warehouse!

Anyway, I could not go this year, but did you find out when the larger (!) parts meet is taking place at the Padova exhibition centre later this year? I'm really going to try to go to that one.

Alex.

Alex.
I'd have to agree with most of your above sentiments as yes I too noticed a difference in the feel of the rubbers from Flamigni to Cicognani - although all the guys at Cicognani were very helpful and pretty funny...... I asked if they had email and the guy laughed pulled out a chisel and started pretending to chisel out a sentence on stone saying "not in Italy maybe in 5 years."
Unfortunately it was a one day only adventure and the second last day I got to spend in Europe so I didn't get as much time as I would have liked in Imola or get details about the Padova exhibition......sounds like a blast though.
