The beauty of owning an Alfa is that mods are appreciated. I do believe in keeping the correct engine and tranny series together, but to put speakers in the map pockets by the foot wells (as in your car and in mine) is not frowned upon. In fifty years, I don't think either one of us will have the equivalent of a P2, therefore, originality, although interesting, will not make either one of us rich. So don't worry about the Ford Galaxy antenna, and I won't worry about missing the three bar grill!!

No problems really, just much better grip and stability. The tire overhang is much less than I anticipated.

I might be getting some rubbing at the back of the rear wheel well actually. But it's hard to tell as there were rub marks there prior to this tire upgrade. Under hard cornering I hear something from the rear end. I have yet to empty out my trunk to make sure it's not my stuff moving around back there.

The 4 picture shot above does not do the new tire width justice. I think I was sitting a little further away when shooting the new tire's width. You'll have to see 'em Heimeng. Not nearly as beefy as Sniady's monster, but pretty hefty none the less.

I mistakenly thought that you had upgraded your Sprint GT to a 2 liter. We never did get to see any shots of your engine or interior Gen.

I will yank out that antenna to mount a powered antenna in the rear, one of these days. IMHO you really should put a three bar grill on yours. You've done everything else to make it look (and run) like a Veloce. That's the only thing missing.

As for the speakers in my map pockets, that was done by the PO. I don't think I would have done it on my own. Now that they're there, I will upgrade the speakers someday.

Hmmm, that tyre looks too wide for that rim to me.

There is actually a safety rule, that many tyre fitters ignore.

For the best handling the tyre wall should be as straight as possible, infact for racing most people fit tyres on to rims that are TOO wide. This reduces sideway flex and improves direction change response time.

The rule is that you should only ever fit 2 tyre sizes up or down on a rim. Thus if the rim was designed for a 165 tyre then a 185 is the max, and 145 the min. Wider than that and you will over heat the sidewall ... which could lead to blow outs. Ring Pirelli or another company to check ... is my suggestion.

I would get your rims widened about an 1" ... or replace them with later model rims from a 1750 or 2000 as they were designed for 175 tyres, I believe.

This does not read clear. I meant that the rim is wider than the tyre.

Thanks for the input Pete, but it's a little late. I asked the board back in January for recommendations. Several people suggested I could go with 195/60's. Upon seeing the first one mounted I decided this width would suffice. I'm not taking her on the track, at least not yet. I have not detected any flex in the side walls. Actually, how could one tell? If I do have a blow out I have a free replacement warranty.

I obtained a set of 14" x 5.5" Alfa steel rims but they would need to be painted or powder coated. I could not spend the extra cash so I stuck with my 15" x 4.5" rims.

I appreciate the comments and I'll keep them in mind.

Well you probably will be okay then .

I have seen some amazing things with wheels and tyres, and it is only a guide, and most get away with it.

Also we are only talking 10mm ... whoopy!!

Look familiar?

I broke out my white sharpie and colored over the primered fender.

Thanks Snaid! Oddly enough I was driving by an Italian restaurant called "Portofino's" when I took the shot. I was just looking for a good window reflection.

She needs a bath but damn she's got a body.

Hello Kai, have you sold your red one yet? I've been looking to get one for 20 years, ever since I wrecked the '67 my dad bought new.

kai,
how did you do that! from looking at how low the fender is, your car is obviously under acceleration. you had good timing when you hit the button on the camera. i'd have to hit the button on mine before i even got to the build just to make sure the car was centered in the window.

Welcome to AlfaBB Pete! I sold the red GTV back in February. Here's what she looked like the last time I saw her in March.

Good luck in your search! Keep at it, she's out there. BTW, did your father ever forgive you?

I have a quick trigger finger from all those years of playing video games.

I first drove by on the other side of the street but decided that my car looked too small in the photo. I'm such a dork that I was actually driving around downtown LB looking for a good reflection in the office buildings.
