Pat Braden...

was a good friend and passd away last (2002) August. I knew him for some 35-40 years. Pat was the guy at HYUNDAI ( )
that wrote all their training programs! He, Dave Mericle Jr (who runs the US Giulia Sedan Register and is perhaps the most knowledgeable guy in the world on the Giulia Sedans) and I went to Concours Italiano together in Dave's red '67 Giulia Super, and on the way back, Pat fell asleep in the back seat. Dave had the car pegged, which means we were doing about 116mph. Rest in Peace, Good Friend

Very nice 105GTVs everyone. I know if one looks hard enough, you can find a VERY nice 105 series coupe for $6000-$8000, and a near perfect one for $10000. A "best in the world" one should be about $12000-$14000...

I got to spend a long day with Pat, Cheryl and their energetic young daughter Pattie last summer during the AROC convention. Pattie *really* wanted to make a night of it, too, and go out to eat, etc. I begged off, thinking the Bradens were tired and wanted to go home, and that Pattie was just being a kid. Now I really wish we had gone out to eat that night ...

Pattie "playing" in my Milano

I was only familiar with Pat Braden through his reputation and his books. I was saddened to hear of his passing. It is quite possible that this article was the last thing he wrote. My auction ended 6/27/02 and the article appeared in the August issue of Keith Martin's Sports Car Market Magazine. http://sportscarmarket.com/

Wink

Funny Kai, but that "real" 67 veloce interior looks just like my real 64 interior.

Such a lovely original example. My vote is to leave the original engine in and tidy her up ... will be a rare car once finished.

Your car and all, but there are heaps of GTV's with hot 2 litre engines in them ...

And this car was owned by an Alfa God ...

Pete

Yeah you better wink Gen. because I know you got your interior from a Veloce. Any other mods planned to make it look like a real Veloce? Have you put the three bar grill on yet?

Thanks Pete, but she looks much better in pictures than in person. One benefit of a white paint job. She needs more than just tidying up actually. I'll have to address several small dings and minor rust spots. I also need to locate new rubber gaskets for the wind shield and rear window.

Thanks for the vote on the 1600 too. At this point I am undecided. I now have an extra 2 liter and an extra 1600. After getting my clutch replaced she's a lot more fun to drive around. Perhaps I'll learn how to rebuild an engine starting with the spare 1600. Next up is rebuilding the extra set of carbs.

As for this car's past ownership, it was not owned by Pat Braden if that's what you meant. He wrote an article about the eBay auction I won her in. If you meant me then I'm blushing.

Since my family album shots got deleted long ago I thought I'd post one again. Owning three Alfas, those were the days.

My baby's got a new pair of shoes. Old 165SR15's on top and new 195/60R15's on the bottom. I think this only lowered her by less than 1/2".

Now that I have a new clutch I can really tell what a difference these new tires make!

They're only 4.5" wide and 15" in diameter. The brand name is Firsat.

Here's a picture of the powder coated set I sold to a guy with a '73 GTV. He liked the look of my new tires so much that he practically begged me for these rims. I don't know why he wants to go with larger and narrower rims.

195 tires on a 110.25mm rim.
Didn't know that is possible.

I was hesitated to put 195 on the stock 73 GTV rims!

No problem whatsoever??
