Is that you, Simon? I thought that was the engine - just wondered where the pedals were.
Great idea, with this thread - although it might be scary I'll go look for a pic of myself - in the meantime I cant wait to see who'll be the next to dare post a pic and submit himself to ridicule. (sorry )

Hey Alex how much Photoshop work was done on that pic? It looks like the background has some "added" motion blur.

Brian,
As far as I know, that pic is accurate. I believe I was doing about 70-75mph when it was taken. It was fun!! I was on a....ummm...fun rally last October in North Carolina, and was just lining up to pass an Austin-Healey 100/6.
Cheers,

You can create that sort of affect when panning your camera and using a not-so-fast shutter speed. Panning the camera to match the cars speed will freeze the car but blur the background.

...and just for grins, 20 years earlier - before Ed's hair went gray and mine just went.

I intend to offence by this reply...
I know all about shutter drag and pan method, but here is why I think there was some Pshop done as well. Also if this was shot with a slow shutter speed (1/30-1/80 depending on the lighting) The wheels wouldn't be as sharp as they are.
In the areas circled you will see a horizontal shadow behind the car and a white blur around his head. These are a give away that the motion blure filter has been use on the layer below.
What was done is this...
The image was put opened in photoshop, the a duplicat layer was make. The underlying layer had the motion blur filter added, the the top layer was deleted down the the image of the car.
I'm not trying to start a flame war or anything, but I do this for a living an can spot things like this. Alex if it ends up the shot had no photoshop work done to it then I'm wrong and can admit that.

This is the only one I can find right now. No Photoshop used. (It's actual paint on the photo.) My wife hates this shot; it creeps her out.
