Outing to Jerome
Had a nice outing to Jerome Saturday with the Mile High Sports Car Club here in Prescott- beautiful day for a drive, culminating at a BBQ at Joe and Dianes home in Jerome- nice setting! Diane is quite an artist and owns a local shop/gallery in Jerome- they were great hosts. Unfortunately, I was the only Alfa in attendance- only Italian sports car, for that matter! Great drive up HWY 89A- had one of the British contingent break down temporarily along the way (a Jensen Healy GT- kind of a rare bird!), but it was soon fixed and we continued on. Anyway, thought I'd share a few photos- hope you enjoy!
PS- the last photo shows the smile my Duetto always puts on my face!

A few more photos from Jerome...
A few more shots- Joe and Dianes house is about a hundred years old, and has a dynamite view over the Verde Valley....

What a great trip! My father and mother met in Jerome in 1935 when she was a schoolteacher and he was a shovel-runner in the open pit mine. They only spent two years there but it was the beginning of our family story.
Our entire family met there just last month to spread their ashes over Jerome.
There will always be a special place in my heart for that great town!

How cool- must've had a lot of fond memories for them- I'm so sorry for your loss, though. It's a neat little mining town, not quite like it was in 1935, to be sure- lots of cool shops and galleries now, eateries and watering holes, old ruins, etc- the wife and I went the other direction Sunday and drove out to Bagdad- nice windy road, but the scenery wasn't nearly as nice as the drive out to Jerome, for sure!

Keeth-That's cool. There is a lot of history up there!
My sister lives in Clarksdale and I visit her twice a year. The lights of Jerome on Mingus mountain are right there at night, and we make a day trip up there on most of my visits. There is an Alfa owner in Jerome, I think it's an S2 Spider. Have not made contact yet.
My son lives in Cottonwood, and we have made the run to Prescott several times in his BMW M3...early in the morning.
If any of you folks are in the Sedona area for any reason, this is a great day trip! Thanks for the pictures. I'm going in September.

I used to drive down through there as an alternate route during my sales days. Cool little mining town for sure.

I visited Jerome with my family when I was a kid, right after going to the Olympics in LA in 1984. Good memories, we spent three weeks wandering all around the west coast and inland as far as Utah. I forwarded this thread on to my parents, too.
