Saturday, while headed north on Hwy 154 (San Marcos Pass) in the GTV6, I spotted a spider parked by the side of the road, just outside of Los Olivos. I stopped to see if I could help, it turned out he had run out of fuel and had already called for assistance. Just as I was leaving, the tow truck pulled up to hopefully send him on his way.

Why California???
Having watched the BB for a couple of years now, I've noticed how many Alfas appear to be in California. I don't know how to really verify this, but I'm guessing that there are more Alfas in California than ALL the other 49 states combined!!!
Any 'number-geeks' out there who can come up w/a way to prove/dis-prove my dopey assumption???
Thoughts?
BTW: my Alfa is in So. Florida(there are hardly ANY down here!)
Regards
ps---I've also noticed that the 'majority' of 1969 thru 1976 BMW 2002s are also in California...

Saw a silver late model Spider westbound Hwy 24 in Oakland this morning around 0910. I was waiting for my train on the platform at the MacArthur BART station. Looked and sounded great.

to be even more specific, reading this thread i'm always left with the general impression that there's a heavy(ish) concentration up in the san francisco bay area for whatever reason.
i don't have any numbers, but my guess would be that there are just more survivors in california due to the climate in much of the state...it's called "sunny california" for a reason. here in LA, it basically doesn't rain...at all...from roughly mother's day until thanksgiving. the humidity is also generally very low, despite the proximity of the ocean (hence the term 'coastal desert'). winter is the rainy season, but even then it's still predominantly sunny and rarely rains for more than 2 or 3 days in a row. unless you live in the mountains, there is no real snow to speak of...thus no salt on the roads. any rust prone car is just going to last longer in california.
you have to remember, it's also a huge state with a large population...so i'm sure it started off with a numbers advantage, on top of the weather. california's economy is the eighth largest in the world...much larger than that of most countries, let alone other states.

Yeah - they are everywhere here. Proof positive: Spotted on my way into work this morning a SZ "Coda Tronca" zipping along Hwy 80 (one of what, 17 that exist?), and when I got to work (driving my Alfa) a woman in a red GTV drove by. Notice I don't post spider spottings - as they are far to common around here to even bother...

Hey SLAM105,
Since you are in Boynton Beach I always see a sweet black lowered 164s pull into American Heritage DELRAY High School. Go check it out since you dont see a lot in Florida.

Spotted in Morro Bay, CA on Saturday, May 29: a black Series 2 Spider with a surfboard pulling away from the curb on the Embarcadero near Giovanni's. I got a wave form the driver when I gave a thumbs-up from my SUV.

Slash, were you in Santa Barbara on Memorial Day (Monday)? I spotted a spider that looked similar to yours at the grocery store on Milpas St yesterday.

I have owned my silver 89 Quad since last August having spotted not a single Alfa, of any type, on the roads of Richmond, Virginia. This past week I saw my first, yes, it was Red. S3 Veloce heading north on the Powhite Parkway around the Courthouse Road toll plaza. I was beginning to think I was alone.

My son called me last night and said he was following a red S2 Spider - just like mine - out of the Irvine Spectrum.
Best regards,
