I now believe that Bowin most likely removed a normal A/D slide block and made the second one. Why I do not really know except that this was a very low car and the second frame sat lower to the ground and was certainly more robust.

I was led to believe that 4 x A/D RHD GTAs finished up in the USA and 752561 was the only other one. 752547 was not an A/D car based on everything that I know. That is not to say that it didn't race when it was in the UK, but not likely.

I do not know exactly when 752561 went through A/D but it was made in July and officially sold to Mildren in Sept 1966 (Guessing but I do have a copy of a letter from Alfa somewhere). 752547 was delivered to the UK on 8th July 1965 (so quite early).

Regards
Andrew

I wonder how much it weighed compared to the cast alloy ones? I suspect the steel one would have been stiffer too.

Hi Andrew, thanks for the response. Is this a typo "Mildren in Sept 1966" as I thought you said 1965 elswhere?

As to the USA RHD GTAs, further to what I said in Post #20 of this thread, I offer thre following.

Below is said to be the "official" List of RHD GTAs brought to the USA in 1966 (6) and 1967 (2) for the Trans Am races.

But at the VIR Trans Am Race in 1966 there were, I think, more than 6 RHD GTAs present (and as yet unexplained). A couple of LHD GTAs were also there. 11 GTAs in total if memory serves.

One RHD GTA, known today in California and is thought to have 1966 TA history including the VIR race I think, lost its fire wall and hence S/N as a result of a race crash.

Note that the AR build date for my 752507 is the same as for 752561, 21/7/65.

Any one who can add to this list in any way please do so.

S/N; Original Owner/Driver; 66/67 Race number; Known Today;

GTA more

Indeed, yes GTA 752561 was built in July 1965 but was not sold to Mildren until late 1966. So could have been through Autodelta any time in the interim.

Regards
