Ok here's a better shot of my clocks. I apologize in advance for how dusty they are. The left clock is a single hour timer and is labeled an "AUTO RALLYE". The middle is a MONTE CARLO with the 11 hour window. Interestingly, it says “PAT APPL FOR” whereas one of your pictures says PATENT”. Both timers have plastic bezels that are heavily crazed. The right is just a clock with a separate seconds display. It is called a “HERVUE” and the bezel is glass. They all say "Abercrombie & Fitch Co" on them and work well. I usually give them a little exercise when I drive the car.
Peter, can the bezels be replaced? Is that advisable? I appreciate any input you have. Thanks!

Sorry for the offtopic, but I wanna show you my solution to have a stop watch in my car. By far not as nice as the Heuer but very practical to use for the driver. I bought it quite cheap (about 50 Dollars) new at a customer in Germany and really like that it's black with white digits like the original instruments. The brand is AGAT (russian I think), but the quality is very good for this price...
Don't notice the modern radio, but the car was my daily commuter...
I also added a black/white oil temperature gauge and the modern looking box on the center console is a Lambdameter. I like to know how my engine feels like
Regards Clemens

Thank You Benji!!! That means alot.
Clemens;
1st let me say I love the work you did on your dash. all that French stiching is stunning!!.
Your timer is just as good as all the other in workmanship.
You will not have good time keeping rates with it on your sterring wheel, as with every different position it will have a loss and a gain rate. It needs to be in one spot with the winding stem up as in the photo.
Here is a simler Heuer
More timer photos guys.

Peter: what a great thread! I loved it. I wear a '97 Omega Speedmaster Automatic on a daily basis.
And Clemens: I too have an AGAT stopwatch...yes, it's Russian. I use it mainly when I'm grilling!
Cheers everyone,
David

Does anyone have an opinion on the Breitling stopwatches? I believe their chronographs are great, are the stopwatches just as good? How do they compare with the Russian ones?
And in terms of rally clocks, do people mostly have 60min timers? I notice a lot of stopwatches are only 30mins, is this too limiting for a rally timer do you think?

Most Swiss stop watches are made by by the same movement makers. Yes the Breitling uses the same movements as most Heuers.
You have to understand Swiss watches are a lot of Marketing. The same movement is in a old Sears stopwatch you can buy on ebay for $20.00 Or you can but the same movement in a Heuer or a Breitling for $100.oo of dollars. NO kidding. In fact Heuer made them for Sears and some for Montgomery wards also.
Some of the Russian timers are trully fantastic deals.
Lots of history on this stuff.
Timers are common in meny differnt dials 10sec. and 100ths of a sec dial also.
Here is a Russain dash timer/clock on the bench
also a Breitling 24 hour dialed dash timer in my storage safe. you will notice thay are almost the same.

Hi guys,
Yes the clocks look the same. Peter, One day I'll get them to you for a re-fresh. Davbert, I do remember. Max was a great guy. he and I worked out a deal because he was moving back east. The car still looks very much the same.

We have a differance of opinion
By the way Love them!!!!
The stop watches you posted at best are 3Hz,( some are 4Hz) same as Sears, Monky wards, Cleabar, Le Juor ,Heuer. Ect. None of these are Chronometer Grade.
Meny Russian made timers are Chronometer grade. with high Jewel count made with Diamond end stones, Compensation Balance, Breguet hair spring. All I can say is Mil speck Timer watches are High grade.
The timers you showed and the black dialed Heuer i showed are worlds apart for Quality compared to Some Russian Timers. The Swiss ones we showed are not even 17 J. most are under 7 Jeweles.
One of the places thay spent $$$ on was Military Items. Meny Russian timers for the most part where Mil Speck..
Just as USA did in WW2 with Hamilton watches. Photo a Mil Hamilton with #s on back WW2. in this post.
Now thay do make crap also. But Most Timers and Deck watches and a Mil speak are Top of the Horology world.
The Russian Air force clock timer stop watch is as Good as most and as good as the Br. in the back of my other photos.
Now is it as good as the downed Jaeger thay copied as did all the others? No, from a historic stand point. But its not worth thousands of US Dollars. There all worth well under a Grand.
And Sieko Made some very High grade Timers also. No Kidding. I have restored and worked on all of them.
Dont let marketing dictate Quality.
Your stunning colletion of Br. and My Heuers are valuable because of marketing. We can get the EXACT same movmement in a Sears or any # of off brands for pennys to the doller. These are not in house movements. there made by ValJoux and Lemania. and used in lower to mid priced Timers. Also in High priced with Modifications and up grades.
Enjoy the photos of one of the Great watch making companies. HAMILTON

How's The mouvement on this one?
Peter (PSB) your posts are very knowledgeable and I'm learning quite a bit from you, These Breitlings are not Chronometer quality but are NOS, Hence have some value. I'm a watch collector and Alfa's too (Main reason for this Board I guess)
Fascinated by 70's watches and cars Le Coultre and Alfa .What do you know about this Universal? ThankYou Manuel
