Wonderful car, and close enough on the date--it's 1927. But according to its owner, the car was originally sold on the corner of Sunset Boulevard & Broadway in Los Angeles. And, Albany, the British coachbuilder, actually built 3 Airway bodies on the Lancia Lambda chassis.

It's not hard to understand the confusion, though; most of the Lancia Lambdas in the US were indeed imported from Oz.

And you certainly got it right on this year's Concorso.

Thanks, Tim! (And that Flaminia Sport isn't bad, either...)

Stuart, that is indeed an 8C2300, full name being 1933 8C2300 Castagna Cabriolet, hailing from New Hampshire.

Monterey Historics - Sunday

Thanks, guys, for posting racing photos from Saturday. I was there on Sunday only, wanting to see Giuliettas and GTAs overload the racetrack (9 GTAs, but not so many Giuliettas). Following are my photos for Sunday, the first few of the "Alfa Alley". You locals will probably see your cars, and also locate the Rimiccis' #33 white GTA Stradale.

It was a great thrill watching Fabrizio haunt Heather Mozart's #20 GTA (red white fascia), but then Fab dropped back - don't know what happened.

Another great battle was that between Jeff Hill's SZ Coda Tronca and a Ferrari 250GT SWB - Jeff eventually passed the Ferrari - there's a series of Jeff chasing the Ferrari through Turn 4, just in front of the second set of bleachers.

You'll notice that all my race photos are shot from Turn 4. After many years of watching Laguna Seca races, I think T4 is the best place to watch these cars handle, spin out, and drivers wave at spectators when they're done. Enjoy this last set of my photos from this wonderful weekend - it was a pleasure posting them for folks who couldn't make it out to these great events.

One last thing: Ralph Lauren's (of Polo Ralph Lauren fame) blindingly-red 8C2900B was on display in the tent - as gorgeous as the Pebble Beach winner, but in a different way.

As usual, I'll add a separate link to my Picasa album where all and additional photos can be seen in higher resolution/larger format.

Concorso

I'm totally knocked out by the new Bugattis but they looked just like any shiny cars sitting in the hot sun on hot concrete.

I am less worried about the location than I am the inclusion of all the other marques (including a massive BMW turnout) that only seemed to dillute the largest All-Italian show in the U.S.

Anyone ready for Concorso Euro, 2009??

Yes, all I have heard is complaints.... but that is with anything that changes. Remember the stir when they changed the heading/format on this AlfaBB? Seems okay now

As for the concrete being hot... we could have only wished for that! It was cold out there!

Visually it was interesting and it was still beautiful with the hills in the distance. Reminded me a bit of Bonneville, and thats not a bad thing.

Curious though to hear what everyone thought about the warbirds buzzing the place. Kind of ups the ante a little bit when you have a guy dive bombing the airfield in his personal jet...

Fabrizio had an amazing race on Sunday. He was battling with a Porsche 904 and leading all the Alfa's when, with 2 laps to go, he got punted from behind by an out of control Lotus 7. We were unlucky he got taken out of the race, but lucky the Lotus managed to just hit the wheel. I have a spare wheel and will remove and inspect the whole rear suspension before the next race in a few weeks. I'll post my pictures and videos tomorrow.
