I just noticed the post I did a couple years ago on this thread has lost the photo so I thought I would drop in a couple others. The first shot was on Ocean Ave in Carmel on the Pebble Beach Concours Tour and the second was at the Wine Country Classic. Cheers, George

Thanks Nick. God I love an excuse to blather on about cars. It is a 1960 Giulietta Sprint Zagato or more commonly an SZ. It was the result of demand from customers for something a bit more competetive than what Alfa was offering. In '56 Leto de Preilo (? spelling) crashed his SV in the Mille Miglia. He took the damaged car to Zagato and they rebodied it. The lighter resulting car was more competitive and soon about eighteen others had Zagato producing similar SVZ Alfas for themselves. Given Alfa's in house GT the Sprint Speciale was a bit portly for cometition and they were not happy about the chop shop approach they contracted Zagato to partner on their own model. In 1960 and 61 they built 169 rounded tail or Coda Tonda SZ. In 1961 they built another 43 (+/-) Coda Tronca versions. The latter were a bit longer (slightly heavier), but sleaker and had a chopped off kamm tail, all for greater top speed. (historians feel free to correct my details )
My car was used in minor Swiss events in it's early years and after changing hands a few times came to the USA in '78. It has been vintage raced since the early days of vintage racing so most of it's existance it has been used in competition although no known major events. I run it in local vintage events and drive it on weekends. By the way I tend to agree with you on the looks. The photo below as an event last fall at Sears Pt. Cheers, George

I did not say it had 260. My Alfa crazed friend did who helped me modify it. I didn't really care one way or another and for the record I am only posting for mutual interest in these cars. Not for bragging rights.

How much rust is on that 747? I could use a front clip in order to restore mine.

They strike me as similar to the wheels on the '82 Lancia 037 - George
