New to the World of Alfa Romeo.

Hi.

Just acquired the vehicle you see in the photograph and overall it's in very good condition. I have never owned an Alfa Romeo before, so it's all a bit new and scary at the moment.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a good place for parts on the Net.... and also are there any 164 owners out there who could help me get to know this model, with tips, techniques and perhaps things I ought to be aware of...

Grateful for any help and advice.

Neale

Lunchbox,

I am sorry but I can't see your picture. Please re-post it so that we can see your new ride!!

Rollup,

The 164 Twin Spark!! Looks very beautiful and the English license plate (I am sorry if that's not English one) looks far more suited (than US license plates) to the clean look of the 164!! You should be able to get most of the parts from local dealership, and most of the engine parts (internal & external) are shared with 155TS 8-valve so I am pretty sure that you will have no problem finding them.

Thank you for sharing the picture!!

Thanks for the Reply

Hi "tiger0529"

I agree, there is something very beautiful about Alfa's... and yes, my 164 is a UK model. Thanks for the tip regarding parts compatibility with the 155 TS 8V, I will keep that in mind.

I think overall the my Alfa is sound, although it does need a service which I will be doing this weekend.

My main concern is that oil is weeping from the rear of the engine and it's a bit of a mess back there. I don't think the head gasket has blown, there is no mayo around the oil filler cap or dip stick and the engine temperature seems normal and steady. But, the coolant in the reserve bottle is sort of brown and milky, so perhaps I should be worried... .... I don't know.

I have read postings regarding a retorque of the head bolts, something I have never tried, although with guidance I would try.

Anyway, grateful for any tips and feedback.

Neale

Wink Alfa Therapy...

Took a few shots on the back of a favorite mountain road. Here are a few taken just below the fog line. Wished I could have taken a pic after I drove above the fog but the only spot to pull over was taken by a vw eurovan...

Smile thanks

Thanks Rollup Those are Serpent Autosport type 3's. The 205/50/16 Toyo T1R's wrapped around them are super grippy too.

Talking

Green Dragon,
Those are 3 of the best composed photos I have seen on this site. Of course the subject is terrific, but I am very impressed with your camera skill.
