Thanks for the compliments guys! I bought the 33 very cheap, (only $600) because it needed some work. The clutch hydraulics, brake master cylinder and cooling fan were not working and I fixed all those up over Christmas. I also replaced the timing belts. I need to replace the front shocks and the right hand cv joint, but it has still worked out very cheap. Apart from that there are just a few minor things to sort out, including a torn driver's seat cover. The previous owner neglected it and knew nothing about cars. I enjoy rescuing cars anyway. The 1.7 carby engine has plenty of power. There are not many 1.7s around, so it was a good find.

compliments for saving this 33.
You are right, 33 1.7 carby engine has plenty of power, and few cars remain nowadays. And your car sounds very original (with the original and rare rear badge "33 1.7 Q.V." too).
Enjoy!

33 1.7

Thanks GiuliaSprint GTA. I bought both of the rear badges new from my local Alfa spares shop a couple of months ago. The original Alfa badge was missing and the "33 1.7 QV" badge was badly faded. The car is original apart from the fact that a previous owner has lowered it. I will see how it handles when I replace the front shocks and if I don't like it I will put some original springs back on it. A friend has some he doesn't want. I am on the lookout for a new rear badge for my 75 too. It is surprising how much nicer they look with new badges.

Don't worry ALFAGTV6 GP. I found the badge on ebay and have bought it. Thanks very much for the tip. I wouldn't have found it otherwise. It will tidy up the rear of my car very nicely. It wasn't exactly cheap, but I know they are very hard to come by.
