It's a state or province thing from what I know. Up here in Canada my province only has rear plates, but the one I go to school to has both required. They probably want both plates for the same reasons you've stated.
Speed limits are about that same in Canada as what you guys have there.
American speed limits vary a bit based on the state, but usually around the same speed as you have. 60-70 MPH, I don't believe many (any?) states still have the 55 MPH limit.

NY still has 55, I think. As for plates, varies by state also. Plenty states do not require front plates. Texas does, but cops usually leave classic cars alone, in my experience....have been driving my Alfa's without front plates since 2003 here

Speed cameras here are a joke. They have fifty-five signs before the camera. I have plenty of time to slow down and then speed right back up after I pass it.
Arizona is still the wild west really. LOL.
I have a visible plate on the rear and really do not speed much in town, mainly on open roads with literally no people.

Our cameras are in unmarked cars parked on the side of the road and they only have a sign after you have been through, so you can suffer for a few days waiting for the ticket to arrive.

Nice 164 Jason, I was thinking on doing an engine rebuild at some point. This car is too good to let go.

Thats the way it should be done. But overall I think camera's are a waste of tax payers money...at least in Arizona.
Yes Ryan, despite these cars being FWD, they are an awesome car and a very good ALFA!
Nothing else drives, sounds and performs like it. Such a great highway car.

The cameras aren't a waste of money here. They pay for themselves in about two weeks and make millions, very little of which goes back into the roads.
I agree about 164s. I sold my grey one with the tired engine to a local winery owner yesterday. It has an excellent body and interior and he is going to get the engine rebuilt. He loves 164s. Our red one has only done 120,000 km and is great to drive. I would like the leather seats to be softer though. Five applications of BMW leather conditioner helped a little, but the front ones in particular are still stiff.

Hello from Israel,
My name is Ralph and I own a 1994, 164 Super (3L., V6, 24V. Not sure how this lines up with the American specs of L, LS etc...).
It has 335K km under its belt and is still running strong.
I have it for about a year now and have done very little to it mechanically.
It did visit the bodyshop though and received a new paint (pearly white instead of the flat white it was). I also made it one tone all across instead of the white-on-top, grey-on-the-bottom paint scheme it had.
Take care,
Ralph.
p.s. - Does anyone know if the fact that the rear ride-height is significantly higher than the front is normal?

Here's my 164L hanging out with some of his Italian brothers and cousins. Kinda like a family reunion for my Alfa.

Yea, my Alfa gets around! lol
There was another red Alfa 8C that was inside that building being serviced but they never brought outside while I was there. It would have been sweet to get a picture with both 8C's and the two Lamborghini's.
