New Verde
(Cross posted from Milano forum)
I picked up a 1987 Milano Verde from another BBer about a week ago. Below are some pictures. Needs a paint job bad. Runs well now after I got the timing set correctly.
It is so fast compared to my 79 Alfetta Sedan. Much different driving experience between the two. The Alfettta is fun to drive and likes to rev quickly put there is not much power there - it is great in the twisties though and you get alot of feedback from the suspension and I know the car well enough to feel when it aproaching its limits. Haven't had the chance to get the milano on some back roads yet but the ride is so much smother and and on freeway cloverleafs it just stuck around the curves - more stable it seemed then the alfetta but not as much feedback so I was worried traction would just give without warning. PO installed a smaller than stock Momo wheel and I am still getting used to that especially since the alfetta has the wood wheel which I think is slightly larger than stock.
Things it needs (to do asap)
1) new clutch master cyl
2) new tires
3) lower ball joints
4) A/C repaired/recharged (it's black and I live south of the mason/dixon line!)
5) Heater valve replacement (at least before late fall)
Things it could use in a while
1) paint
2) exhaust system (have an ansa middle and rear off a wrecked verde)
3) front recarros redone
4) Stereo upgrade - only rear spearkers work and one (maybe both) are blown.
5) instrurment cluster swap to fix tach - have one from a milano gold to swap in.
Things I need help with that I am working on this week:
1) Are the recarros heated? It has switches in the middle consol for heat.
2) Both front power windows are having issues. The drivers side moves up and down in a section from about 4 inches from up to about 4 inches from down. Once it hits these points the window stops moving and starts clicking. The passenger side window is down about 3 inches and doesn't go up or down at all but makes the same clicking sounds. I have and extra set of doors (all 4) w/ glass and all motors intact so if I have to replace the regulator I have a spare.
3) Sunroof pops open but will not slide back. Does it slide back into interior of the car - meaning between the roof and the headliner? It looks like it does but does that mean there is some other switch or method to retract the sunroof?
If anyone can give me a place to start looking for fixes to these problems that would be great.
Got lots of spares with the car including the ansa middle and rear exhaust, extra airbox and AFM (for 2.5 though), extra gauges, all 4 door complete, front fenders (both), hood and trunk, extra grill, lots of micelanious interior parts and a few suspension goodies. All the body parts were from another black verde but it had dealer instaled pinstripe stickers. Altogether I think I got a good deal as the PO was/is a car family (4 Lancias/1 164) and wanted the verde driven.
Kind of funny how I got the car. I was looking through old for sale posts to get an idea of price points for milano's and I was back over a year in posts. Saw a post for a verde and an extra 3.0 engine located about 10 miles from me - and I live in rural maryland about 80 miles due west from Baltimore - not exactly a hotbed of alfa activity although Bill S. lives here and the VP of the DC Fiat Club is here as well. Anyway there were no replies so I PM'd the guy and we hooked up and he still had the car and it was still for sale and the rest is history.

Milanp and baby brother
Here are some more pictures of the milano from 2 posts ago but cleaned up some with my other alfa. They are both black so I thought the side by sides would be interesting. More pictures in the milano forum.
