looks very nice Alex.....black S2 spiders rock!....and I've heard they're faster in black too, but I have no evidence of that

It is a series 2b, 1981 Spider Veloce. It is the least desirable year model because it is the last year of the SPICA mechanical fuel injection. SPICA FI is great, but this version has a one of a kind (1980-1981?) restrictive type intake, and it was also saddled with a smog pump, catalytic converter and other esoteric smog equipment making it slow for a 2.0. It also tended to overheat, or so I've read.
I decided to make all of its shortcomings into positive traits. Mine will be as original as my budget will allow (which is not saying much). So, I'll just drive the little thing all over God's green acres 'AS IS'.
I have not driven mine yet. I am getting it road worthy with new tires, brakes and engine tune up stuff. It sat for a few months in my friend’s car port and needed some TLC.
I'll report back on the Pirelli P6 tires once I have some miles on them. Read all the gory tire details here:
What size tire for my 1981 Spider with Turbina rims?
I love the color as well, Avorio, Ivory. I want to rub out the paint and polish her. She should shine like new. Thanks for the compliment. It's my first Alfa and already I'm hooked.

Reason: added year, added color.

my 83 gtv6....shes a bit of an oddball..being an "early" 83 shes got balloco rear side vents as well as the balloco red stripe piped seats...alsmost as if they were building ballocos for 83 but just didnt
just recently rolled 76k miles..as well as blew the diff....and yes i collapsed the front bumper shocks to pull the bumper into the body some and clean up the look.....recently rebuilt the entire brake system as well as replaced the MC with a 23mm BMW unit LOVE the brakes now..power mirior switch got swaped out and hidden under the shift boot with a bmw unit(nice to have the mirrors work)
i got it earlyer this year in trade for a bunch of custom work i did for a friend...and simply fell in love with this car after putting it back together(unfinished engine swap)....majorly got the alfa bug....even the wife loves the car and we are more to the likeing of classic muscle..specificaly our 67,68,69 cudas.....simply the most fun to drive and we both LOVE the sound of that 2.5 singing..made a 600 mile round trip without touching the radio and several 250 mile round trips to the beach without the radio...the engine is plenty of music

and my "free" platinum milano...soon to be a parts car sadly..exhaust is shot cam seals toast and well....i need the parts
im sorry to the purists..but the fetta was NOT saveable...it had been sitting in a field for quite some time as well as it had an engine fire and transaxle removed....soooo while i was cutting i had to see what a fetta/gtv6 vert would look like

sh0rtlife, it is a great car! I remember seeing them when I was in College. If I had known what they were mechanically, I might have bought one. They are a truly unique machine. I understand about engine music. I can't wait to take my wife out in our spider for a nice long stretch. Thanks for sharing your photos!

You know the lines still look great. This would have made a nice 2 plus 2 convertible. But you know a soft top would probably have looked like junk.

yeah my thoughts exactly..a soft top would have made it very craptastic looking.....as rotted as the car was i felt the need to find out what a vert truely would have looked like....the sweep up needed a wing bar running across it but otherwise as a vert the gtv6/alfetta body looks great that way....for a 99 cent car i did manage to get ALOT of good useable parts from it

thanks, i love it too.
just that its got some rust bubbles which you can never see in pics!
just had new front springs and mounting plates fitted as the salt on our roads last winter finally disolved them.
cheers, Dean. (this is a great website by the way - very informative).

Is that a gold Cloverleaf on the C panel? Mine had the same and it was '74 2.0. Can't remember the significance, but I think it was a memorial year. [/i]
