(don't know if the term "banana manifold" exists in English, it does in Danish though )

Akitaman, please try and find the Classics & Sport Cars issue where they featured a "hobby restoration" of a Lancia. I am 99% certain that it's the same model, and I would think that the bloke has plenty of pictures, etc. of the restoration. If his contact details aren't in the magazine, they can most likely be obtained from the magazine staff...

Good luck on your work.

No, that's not the one. I can't see the page you are referring to, but I know it was published sometime the last 3-4 years... In 1985 I was 3 years old, so didn't buy many English magazines on Classic motoring at that time

It would appear that the "Portugise Barn Find" had at least one Zagato in it's hoard...

It amazes me what you guys pick up on. The banana!

Steven continued to build support parts.

And he also was TIG welding some of the other parts made too.

Hi Don. The whole bottom of the car is getting done. I will be sure to take a photo of the completed rocker. They are complex! The inside of the rockers are primed the injected with cavity wax. Where the steel comes in contact with the aluminum, we have another step we will be taking. I show that when we get there.

We finished with the reinforcements and gussets for the rocker assembly. We plan to make all the support parts before remove any more metal.

Building this rocker assembly is a real challenge. There are many layers to it. The full box unit, the sill plate, outer rocker skin, gussets, reinforcement straps and floor pan sectional. Much more than a Alfa.
Anyway, we pulled out the outer panel and carefully removed the sections still attached.

To keep the rusted sections together I used tape to bond them as one. You'll see why next.

Once it's out, we could study the pieces with out it falling apart.

We started making the sill plate:

And we started making the outer rocker skin too, on the English wheel.

I have the magazine article but no scanner The chap took 10 years to complete the restoration of his Flamininia!! I will try & get access to a scanner. The articel covers some of the hurdles to be overcome and some of the difficulties faced by the owner who tackled most of the restoration himself. The car was way worse than Akitamans project.

Nice photos! I always thought that the Flaminia/Z's were some of the best examples of Ercole Spada's (Zagato's designer famous for the "double bubble" cars) work. For me it's always been a toss-up between the earlier cars and the Super Sports (the last photo). I guess if I had a choice it would be a first series, covered headlight car w/ the Super Sport's 2.8, 3 Weber motor---suitably modified to make about 200-210hp.

Finally some structural security! We have the rocker just tack welded in place for now. We will be taking it out and rust proofing it later, but it sure is nice to get some strength back in it.
