Very interesting- thanks for the post. I'm always on the hunt for interesting special Fiat-based cars and it's been a while since I've owned an Abarth. I'd forgotten how great looking they are (and I looked at the other thread on yours, which is very neat).
This one looks like it should be bought by someone who wants a racer. I think it would be far too much work to "restore" for the street. Now, I'll have to put one of these on my radar screen...

Check out the owners other cars for sale, including an ABARTH 500GT ZAGATO PROTOTYPE! They don't get much rarer than that, but I could only imagine the price

Cheerio,
Duane

PS: Hi Henry Get Victor to buy this one

this car was mentioned on bringatrailer.com some of the comments suggest these aren't particularly great cars to drive, can anyone confirm or refute this? has anyone here driven one of these? it seems to me that they would be a blast.

They are not very fast cars, smal engine 850cc, with 52 hp if I remember correctly, but they are VERY light, around 600kgs. You sit very close to the ground with an akward pedal position.

But they are an absolute blast to drive, you know the saying "It's much more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow", and this applies 100% to this car, plus the are extremely good looking.

I disagree completely about the not fun to drive label. I have a 1962 Allemano Coupe, and mine is one of the most fun sports cars I have ever driven. Mine is not set up for racing, but is a fast street car. I have had it on the track, (see photo with the alfa club) and it was a hoot to drive with its high revving small bore engine. The car has a very good ride quality and handles great-it only weighs 1360 pounds in full street form, and has a 45% Front 55% rear weight distribution. I run an A112 1050cc motor with slight mods, and the car is very quick with 75-80HP.

That race car for sale must weigh less than 1200 pounds, and it says it has a 1000cc motor, not the 850, so it should be about as fast as a 1300 Veloce if the motor was tuned right. I think that car sits way too low as it is currently set up even for racing, so it mustn't have much suspension travel. No need to lower it down that far.

You are right about racing it as is instead of trying to restore it to a street car. the parts missing from that car would all have to be made from scratch, as they only made a few dozen of them , and there are no interior or trim parts available. Those louvers are not stock either.

The good news is that the mechanical parts are all Fiat 600 and are readily available.

I hope someone gets it and makes it run again. Love to see it on the track at a vintage race..
