Wtf?
GM is taking a 7% stake in Puke-jo. I don't get this kind of business decision. GM washes it's hands of SAAB, (a company that has always built better cars the Puke-jo) and then forms an alliance with Peugeot?
Bottom Line - GM and Peugeot to join forces, sources say

Buy them, choke them, devalue them, isolate them, ignore them, watch them die, bury them.. Sounds like a rational business plan for a massive monolithic corporation with no soul.
Wasn't it the Christians/romans (whoever) who built their churches right ontop of the prevailing cultures sacred sites, keeping but transitioning a few things to placate the masses.

Good old GM, once they start making some profits they do something unbelievably STUPID. But, if it fails, they will blame the French unions. Of coure everybody remembers the GM hookup with Fiat, cost them $2.5 billion IIRC. Get the bailout fund ready.

Exactly. This is what happens when you bailout a poorly run, horribly mismanaged company without cleaning house. Sure, there are a few new faces at GM but overall, it's the same people driving that ship that ran it aground in the first place. There should have been a complete wipe-out of upper and middle management as a condition of the bailout. Of course, I'm not sure the government really has any ground to stand on when it comes to teaching proper management techniques.

I agree, it's a great plan! Kill your competition one by one, under the guise of helping them. I think Fiat is the only one that's escaped in better shape than they went in, right?

Yes because of the "put" option they had. I believe it was that GM had to buy the firm (Fiat) or pay a penalty which I believe was $2.5-3 billion USD. I'll try to check it.

just checked. The put option was $3 billion but they ended up settling for $500 million, 2004.

Perhaps its our dear President's plan to sell the entire US to the European Socialists. Somebody's gotta pay for the taxpayers stake to get him out of GM.
