Took the John Deere out yesterday for a spin. Corners poorly when the spoiler baskets are on and the downforce button is engaged. Might be time for a new set of Koni yellows.

Global Warming has been good to us this week, though the IRS hit us fairly hard this year for life above ground insurance. Funny how my gas deduction went from .58 mi to .50 because of the wildly declining gas prices.

Happy Tax day to all! Well to a most anyway . . . a few get the finger with a check.

I hear I paid more taxes than GE who bankrupted my 35 year employer. What a kick. Guess I deserve a spot on the BOD, or at least a cabinet spot.

But I digress. What was the subject again?

85 F here today in No Cent AL. The John Deere has been run twice this spring already. But just between rains, which it is supposed to do again tonight. I think we've has about 30 inches so far this year. I'm about done with it.

My son who's been living with me out here and helping me take care of the place lost his job last week, so he's going back to TX Saturday. Then it will be just me and the cats. And the Alfas and the John Deere.

Taxes Anyone?

We usually run this essay at Christmas, and occasionally at tax time:

I hate to change the subject, particularly when we're talking about bad weather and taxes, but.....

Sent the family out for hard labor since the weather is nice again today. Not sure I can afford corn free high octane for the heavily polluting race tractor much longer though. But wait, isn't this an old subject?

Note the tree that was bare last week is in full flower today! Thanks to Global Blooming. Can we tax that?

Hey! I survived the AL tornado outbreak. My house and all inside and the Alfas and other assorted transports are all OK. We've been without power and internet since Wednesday. Probably will be until perhaps Tuesday, if what they tell us now is correct. Cell phone is working sporadically. I have swapped text messages with La Voce (Jim), he's OK. I haven't heard anything from flivesay (Frank) but I bet Jim has or he probably would have said something. Those are the only two other local active BB members I see regularly.

If the power comes back in time, we have our regular Huntsville area pizza meeting on Wednesday and hopefully we'll all be swapping tornado survival stories over the best pizza I've ever eaten.

Thoughts and prayers for the many folks that have lost and are suffering.

My power was restored about 930 this morning. Phone and internet shortly thereafter. The morning briefing said about 500,000 folks still dark, which is basically everyone north of the Tennessee River to the Tennessee state line. LaVoce (Jim) lives in Harvest which was one of the towns that had significant damage. I'd like to go check on him but they are only letting residents in. I've had txt message exchange with him, that's all. We're still under dusk to dawn curfew, too.

Larry

glad to hear you and Jim are OK--no damage here at the river--got power yesterday so i was able to turn the fuel sucking genny off--had to keep the beer cold. Fuel was a problem for the genny as no one had any power to pump it. I had a full tank of 93 octane with no ethanol in the spider--and you can actually siphon from it unlike a modern car---made the genny hum

I would hope he is not that lucky. Perhaps I'm just a little bitter. I'm willing to let his, my or anyone else's GOD judge him. I don't think he would do well in any religious court.
