Hi guys,
I don't know if you'd be interested, but the NJ chapter of the AROC (I belong to it ) is getting together on Sunday, Nov 30th, at 1:30 PM, at a real Italian Restaurant in NJ. It's a nice relaxed get-together, in a place that has a wood burning oven built by the restaurant owners, and where they make the bread. Yeah, it comes right out of the oven and to your table! We get the place all to ourselves, and the owners are also Italian alfisti. (They just bought a Spider CE this year!)
This get-together has become a fun tradition. It's always our last function for the year, and some people have asked if anyone would be interested in getting together earlier in the day and doing a drive before the 1:30 PM meal. Did you guys have a specific route in mind?
Best regards,

Yes, a specific route...
I need to make sure I'm back on time to be at the restaurant by 1:30 PM, since I'm in charge of this get together. However, the place is just off of Route 3, a couple of miles west of the Giants stadium, and last year several people asked about doing a small drive... I just hadn't given it any thought back then, but since you guys were bringing this up, maybe we can get a group for a last year spin?
Best regards,

Hey guys,
I see my name mentioned. I prefer riding in the morning with coffee in hand, then ending the day with group of alfisti in an eatery shooting the breeze. I am sure the lunch would be that more enjoyable and food would be even more delicious after the ride. Afterwards, we could all have our siesta.
There is a road with twists and blinds just off of NJ Route 23N. Alongside this road are several small lakes. It should offer a wonderful scenic and moderate challenge ride for all.
Regards,
John (Staten Island, NY)

I am all for a ride, and yes, I'll see what I can come up with... I'll take a drive to ensure that close by roads are in good shape, etc, so that we can exercises our Alfas, and work up an appetite... (I just spoke to one of our regulars, and he indicated that he would be interested. Of course, he knows what kind of drive I'm talking about. ) PM ride would be too late, since it gets dark pretty quick now. That's one big reason why we like the 1:30 PM time to get together...
Let's think about a meeting time. I heard lgbalfa's suggestion for 11:30 AM, so others please chime in. I'm not sure 11:30 is early enough, but that all depends on what we come up with, and where we will meet or meet up with each other. Whatever time, we do want to make so that its easy for ourselves.
Best regards,

OK, I did take a drive on Sunday, going up north along the Hudson River up to Bear Mountain... We have a good selection of roads, and I will make some final decisions on which roads are best this coming weekend... (I hadn't driven up that way in many years, and was pleasantly surprised...) I'm going to propose that we aim to meet around 11 AM, at the junction of the Palisades Parkway and I-95 in Fort Lee, NJ. This would give us a good couple of hours of fun driving, going up to Bear Mountain, and getting back in time, with time for an obligatory stop at the lookout tower on the mountain... Of course, I will publish details on exactly where to meet (found a dinner and a parking lot next to it) with directions, and for everyone to comment...
Best regards,
