I know not being an expert, it would greatly help me to see the different years and models posted in one place. Maybe those of you lucky enough to own these beauties can post the pics here so we could have one thread for quick reference and comparison?

I think front and rear and 3/4 shots, as well as interior and engine shots would be great. Really, any pics at all. Post as many detail shots as you want, I know someone will benefit and it could spark a lot of discussion. I can't believe how many incredible and varied cars there are on this board, and seeing them on one thread would make it convenient to compare and contrast.

Thanks in advance to everyone who posts pics and comments. Maybe if we get enough participation, this thread could be made a sticky so it's always at the top?

chick magnet

The only good thing about the colder weather is that my Giulia 1300ti has the best heater, so it gets driven more often ....

This body style is just irresistible to girls of any age. My goodness, they are like waving to me at stop lights, approaching me in parking lots, ect

Wondering if anyone else has had this phenomenon, ... I kinda like it:)

For sure Jerry, it also happened to my brother in law one day recently when he was out and about in his '70 Super, this young girl approached him and said what a cool car  it was. Mind you she was already an Alfa convert, owning both a 33 and a Sud Sprint, and came from an Alfa infected family.

Happens all the time with folks of all ages, sexes and stripes here. After last Saturday's THC CNC in Austin, some of us were at lunch and Bob said to me, "I don't know if you know but there has been a constant procession of people coming out of that store ogling your car, and this guy is now into it from the waist up." And there was a guy leaning in the window (high 70's here, no heater required Jerry) from the waist up. I was approached when I arrived by a fellow, and when I left by an older couple who owned 4 Alfas way back. Twice later I was chatted up, once by a guy who ran out while I was waiting at a mall exit red light, and at Costco a guy left a business card on the window wanting to buy it (now conversing, but not for Pinyo). Once in a drug store a nice young lady asked me if that was my Alfa outside (how do Alfa guys look; how do they know.). It happens stopped at stoplights, at gas stations (near Stonewall an old rancher asked me it were an Irish car - green with four leaf clover), and at an auto parts store in Burnet two big guys in overalls driving a 350 dualie with a Cummins diesel wanted to see the engine after ogling the outside while I was in the store. And driving, many, many cars shadow it (drive up in the 2nd lane and just hover for miles then creep by to look at the front, and then fall back again). And yes, the young ones really like it also. I was followed into a parking lot by a young teenage couple who inquired about the car. They thoroughly inspected it, took pictures and then reported that it was disturbing that a snake was eating a baby. I explained that it was just a Saracen. At Central Market, there was an armada of demo Smarts driven by a gaggle of cute young things and they stopped me to inquire about it. And it goes on and on and on, too countless to recount. I can't figure it out. And I can't figure out why in comparison my nice Duetto gets far less engagement. The allure indeed. Now my wife wants to adopt it as her driver. Heck no!

Giulia Super "Carabinieri"

Hi Guys,

The latest on my Giulia Super posted here before. I had her dressed up in Carbinieri livery for the Centenary Celebrations in Malaysia and she returned me the favour by winning in the Best Saloon Category:):)

chick magnet continued

When I spoke of girls of all ages, I was speaking of the entire spectrum of females, not just "young girls". I think it must be that nice large back seat that intrigues them.;)

We knew you meant "legal" Jerry . . . . ;)

Hey TSU, looks absolutely sweet. But you have stolen my thunder :D for that was precisely the look I had been thinking about for mine when it is eventually finished.

Just out of interest where did you locate the Carabinieri blue light from ? Oh and one other favour if I may, do you have a side on photo of your car in the livery for I would be very interested in seeing it. I have the model only to base my car's look. Dave

Hi Super 1600,

Late reply but as requested the side views. Actually it was Derek (Alfa2Go) who pinted me in the right direction and even sent me the logos. By the way your car model pix also served as inspiration when I saw it some time ago in another thread.

The blue light was fpund by my mechanic and its a very modern version and not period. I,m no longer allowed to use it unless officially escorted by the "real" Police here.

That is just too cool. I also understand that Supers were the vehicle of choice for the bank robbers also so they had a chance of outrunning the cops. Wonder what color they drove . . . Maybe white TI Supers?

ah but not in the Italian Job, they ran Mini Coopers and the cops had green Supers :D. Mind you on a couple of other Italian movie clips on Youtube, the crims had white Giulia Supers !!

X2 Derek. I can well imagine Mike would be as proud as punch to see his old Super looking that sweet on the track.

The build of this Super I remember reading about years ago, from its humble origins, the heavy rear shunt it took from a VW Golf which nearly wrote it off, and then its metamorphisis into the blue beast. I was always impressed at just how good that one looked.

A credit to you Manuel for bringing it back to life. The Ti should also be a lot of fun.

How cool! And all reversible! It's only missing the spotlight on the roof! And the cool costumes!

I own a variety of Alfas and I have come to accept the Giulia Super to be my favorite. My '69 1750 Spider Veloce has classic lines and amazing Pininfarina grace, it comes out on beautiful days and when I feel like flying on backroads enjoying the scenery. My '71 1750GTV is a bad boy and can only be tolerated for short periods at a time, it's the perfect drive the piss-out-of-it road car and nothing sounds nastier.

The '67 Super will be the one to share with more than one friend. That's the car you pick up the "compari's" and go get a cafe', sit outside and tell them everything they don't know about the car. It's my werewolf in sheep's clothing! The Super is the car that everytime you walk around it, you find the genius of it's design time and time again. It's the car that started to look like a brick and with time, it transforms itself into the most amazing study of aerodynamics. The front end suddenly looks rounder than the GTV, the sculpted/fluted sheetmetal makes Pininfarinas details on my boat-tail look tame, the rear Kamm treatment with sloping trunk sheetmetal becomes stuff of legends.....I could go on and on. If you ever happen to restore one as I have, you will also see uderneath all the materials the strenght and forward vision of the amazing chassis. A most phenominal car.

Ch Si Dici, I totally agree. There isn`t a car I own which fascinates me more in the detail. I think it was after the first wash that I began to appreciate the form and detail and how it achieves what it does. We also in our collection have a Citroen DS-a `71 DS21 and although I appreciate its lines and momentous achievements it seems highly stylised and bulbous (they are a big car) in a `40`s/`50`s type of way when examined closely. Fabulous car though, but it didn`t quite achieve aerodynamically what the Giulia did despite what appears to be comparing a brick to a sleeker shape.
Love my Giulia and what`s better most don`t even know what it is or what it achieved. Most common reaction is "that`s a bit ugly", or "-the coupes look much better, that`s ordinary".

Richard, What is the CD of a Citroen DS-a `71 DS21 (or other car). That is a fair and impartial judge of functional design effectiveness. I still have a hard time believing that a Super compares favorably to a Porsche 911. We've traveled extensively in one and found it carried us, and 200+# of luggage and provisions, at 80 mph all day in hot weather and mountains without whimpering and keeping up with (or passing) most of everything else (that a 2L/130hp, 4.30 though).

Interestingly, Giulia Supers are chick magnets over here. Just about anywhere I park woman passing by will comment on how "cute" the car is, ask what it is, and basically fawn over a car being driven by a geezer. Same thing happens when I'm out driving: people honk, pull alongside, give thumbs up, etc. Just recently, I met my friend Bruce/Alfanuts for lunch at a little town just north of here. As soon as we parked, a small crowd gathered and begain asking questions about our two Supers. This didn't happen nearly as often with my GTV or even my Flaminia.

The last time I attended a CnC here, the little Super upstaged the Ferraris. One Ferrari guy, a resturant owner from Italy, ran up stuck his head in the open window and exclamed, "it's smells just like I remember!" It turned out his parents had one just like mine that they used to transport his brother and him to school every day. There's a magnitism about Supers that makes all manner of people smile. They're amazing cars, certainly the most fun Alfa I've ever owned.

Having never owned or even driven a Super, can you please explain what you mean? I can't understand how an essentially 4 door version of a GTV (my current one-and-only Alfa) could possibly be any more fun. Curious minds want to know!

Anfanuts, DS Citroen is .36 (not bad for a car introduced in 1955 ) whereas Giulia is .34 CD. Giulia though would still have been designed in late `50`s. Giulia has much smaller frontal area than Citroen which is a big car but whereas Giulia very clever with air over the car and exiting at rear Citroen very good also with air over car and has aerodynamically designed floorpan-exit of air at rear I suspect not as good as Alfas Kamm tail though which I suspect is the real reason why Giulia has higher CD. I`ll bet though both cars have pretty close to equal CX , the wider frontal area of a DS being offset by a better undertray.
Both fantastic cars well ahead of most competitors at the time in any price range when they were introduced. My favourite angle of my Giulia is direct front on-I think it is actually pretty at that angle.
