Saw a silver late model Spider westbound Hwy 24 in Oakland this morning around 0910. I was waiting for my train on the platform at the MacArthur BART station. Looked and sounded great.
Yeah - they are everywhere here. Proof positive: Spotted on my way into work this morning a SZ "Coda Tronca" zipping along Hwy 80 (one of what, 17 that exist?), and when I got to work (driving my Alfa) a woman in a red GTV drove by. Notice I don't post spider spottings - as they are far to common around here to even bother...
Since you are in Boynton Beach I always see a sweet black lowered 164s pull into American Heritage DELRAY High School. Go check it out since you dont see a lot in Florida.
Spotted in Morro Bay, CA on Saturday, May 29: a black Series 2 Spider with a surfboard pulling away from the curb on the Embarcadero near Giovanni's. I got a wave form the driver when I gave a thumbs-up from my SUV.
Slash, were you in Santa Barbara on Memorial Day (Monday)? I spotted a spider that looked similar to yours at the grocery store on Milpas St yesterday.
I have owned my silver 89 Quad since last August having spotted not a single Alfa, of any type, on the roads of Richmond, Virginia. This past week I saw my first, yes, it was Red. S3 Veloce heading north on the Powhite Parkway around the Courthouse Road toll plaza. I was beginning to think I was alone.
287 South in NJ near exit 55 at 4:45 today. Inside of two miles - a 55 coral and grey Chevy, a black S3 Spider (top down - perfect day) and a red 914. A mini car show at 65 mph.
Today around 5:00 on 101 South in Goleta Ca, White series 3 or 4 spider with Red Stripes. I was in the Red Spider going north. I was zoneing and didn't notice you untel you passed but I did eventually wave.
Then when I got to Solvang I saw 2 Lancias, this is a weird day maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket.
I've seen that white spider quite a few times in Santa Barbara and Goleta. It's a great looking car.
I was driving the GTV6 up to Santa Maria yesterday (we are headed up to the car show in Pismo Beach today) and caught two Lancias as they were exiting the freeway at Buellton and then saw another at Palmer Road, north of Los Alamos. Is there a Lancia gathering on the Central Coast this weekend?
Yes - This weekend was the American Lancia Club's West Coast Reunion, three days centered around Paso Robles, with various drives spread throughout the central coast.
On Sunday the 20th, I spotted a white Guilia sedan headed west on Hwy 46 a few miles east of Paso Robles, CA about 7:30 pm. I was headed east after a weekend in Morro Bay. Isure wish that I had spotted some of those Lancias!
Santa Monica Blvd, as I'm leaving Beverly Hills, across 2 lanes of opposing traffic and they're heading into Beverly Hills, both spotted each other at the same time with a point and wave to each other... A beautiful 8c with the top down. Looked great.
well gentleman etc., here i sit in el paso and southern NM and in the past 2 years have not spotted one alfa. My 86 quad spider is constantly asked what the heck is that, I know there has to be somebody else out there however as it sits I am the only one. Very, Very lonely in this part of thye country! You guys are realy lucky to to see any type alfa. lonely in southern NM!
Don't feel so lonely. 99.9% of ALFA drivers I've come across in the LA area don't even return a wave with a wave, smile, nod or any sort of acknowledgment. That's from people in different ALFAs too Milano, 164, Berlina, GTV, Alfettas, GTV6, Giulietta and other Spiders, doesn't matter. I was kind of getting discouraged enough to stop waving first to other ALFA owners until this guy in the 8C pointed and waved to me the same time I did. Made me smile and feel good again about ALFA owners out here.
LOL, just read what I wrote and was trying to get across that the lack of response from other ALFA owners was making me feel lonely. Then saw that I just listed all these ALFAs I've seen, this was all being in the past couple months, not like the couple years you mentioned. Sorry, was not trying to rub it in.
The wave or a flash of the head lights to another like minded driver use to be the norm. Now I guess people just try to either hide the pride or are just driving a car for the status symbol and have no idea about the history and potential of knowing other enthusiast of the same marque. In the old days of the 60s thru early 80s I used to see other alfa and porsche owners cruising around town and the highways, there always was a wave or a flash of the head lights to acknowledge the enthusiasim of that particular marque. Now all I see is people driving their cars as a status symbol with a little to a lot of snobery. They probable couldn;t even drive these cars to any extreme to enjoy the thrill and probably would get in trouble if they did exercise them! We used to teach new owners the handling and performance factors at auto crosses etc and frequent social events. Now I guess most sit complacently wondering around town without a clue of the history of their particular marque- what a shame!
Just spotted two spiders, one red and the other, the white with red stripes mentioned here before (and pictured above), both headed southbound on the 101 through Santa Barbara. Nice day to have the top down!
The white with red stripes S4 is "Rogue" on here. I haven't seen him posting lately, but if anyone lives in the area, give him a shout. He's usually up for a drive.
came head-to-head with a green sedan (sorry dont know my sedans very well)on the road from Petaluma to Sonoma. I think I have seen the car before, parked in Sonoma. A wave was exchanged by all.
Well if you got a wave maybe there are a few enthusiast still out there. now if we can get these guys together we can realy get a little participation and commaradery going such as lets tour and least socialize! Lets renew the old marque enthusiasim going weather you race or just want to socialize and admire the marque!
